Cancer kills more people than AIDS every year, why don't we go string up the corporate head of GE and everyone else that authorized dumping chemicals in the water and ground for the last 100+ years, knowing the health problems that these things have been shown to cause? They knowingly gave people terrible life-threatening diseases, kill 'em all! It's a slippery slope... what about people that give someone AIDS unknowingly? String 'em up! The US government even got in on the act in Tuskegee, who do we kill now?

If people knowingly expose people to things that they know will kill them then something should be done with them. I never said anything about killing people who unknowingly pass AIDS. Killing people who purposely pass on diseases has nothing to do with people who have a disease and they don't know about it.

Killing people for stuff they do isn't the answer for anything. Countries without the death penalty have lower incarceration and murder rates across-the-board... we're in the proud company of China, most of Africa, and the regressive Middle East as a government that thinks it's perfect enough to kill its own citizens. Doesn't it make you feel warm inside to be in the company of those other bastions of human rights?

You can keep the Dalai Lama act going if you want but I'm not that forgiving. If you knowingly give someone something that you know will kill them then you need to be dealt with.

Magic is still going strong almost 20 years later...and he's never developed AIDS.

Pretending to justify potential homicide, along with domestic violence and battery, however, is laughable.

man if rhianna did give chris brown a std and she knew about it, she didn't get what she deserved. chris brown should go back there and beat the crap out of her some more, then she would get what she deserved.

i mean some guy stomped a girls face in leaving boot marks because she cheated on him. she really didn't deserve that much, but i ain't feeling bad for her. if she would of given him an std and known about it, even 3 boot marks wouldn't be enough.

I'm also not advocating that anyone who intentionally or unintentionally spreads HIV be killed.

And it's not just Magic in the United States that has had HIV held in check over the last several years. Medicine has advanced.

Still, in a chauvinistic thread justifying horrendous violence and even murder, any sort of dissent is just blankly ignored and attacked...so I'm done.

No one advocated killing someone who unintentionally spread a disease, please read things before you get angry next time. Someone knowingly spreading AIDS is the same as a serial killer and therefore, deserves to die.

i believe in an eye for an eye. if someone does something like give you a std and know about it, they have pretty much ruined your life and so if the person decides to beat them up then im not feeling bad about it because they deserved it. its like if you were being bullied in school and then your bully was getting beat up by a bigger bully. your not going to really defend him, cause you know he deserved it.

I wouldn't go as far to say it's in check, but I would say that there are significant ways to help prevent the spread of HIV that we were unaware of when Magic was first diagnosed.

No we don't have a cure, but we do have some pretty substantial methods (condoms, shared-needle/bodily fluid transmission awareness) to help slow down the rate that HIV has spread.

I don't know if that's what Johnny was trying to say or not.

Magic announced he had HIV in 92. I was learning about HIV prevention like Condoms and not sharing needles in the late 80's. The rate has slowed down but not even close to being in check.

There have been wonderful medicinal advancents for HIV within the past decade. Combination therapies are doing great things with regard to regulating the condition to the point where it is not the "unlivable" ailment it once was when it first became known in the pubic eye around the early 1980's. Like previous posters have mentioned, health care plays a big factor and a high rate of HIV occurs in low income areas where individuals might not have access to such beneficial treatment. Make no mistake about it, HIV/Aids is a horrible condition but it no longer is the automatic < 5 year death sentence it once was.

As far as the "eye for an eye" philosophy, I am thankful that I live in a society where the law doesn't revolve around what is deemed a reciprocal act from person to person. Using violence to solve problems is one of the reason why so many people are in some form of a correctional insitution at this very moment. I would prefer to live in a society where barbarism isn't the norm, and if someone god forbid gave me an unspeakable disease, I would turn them in to the police.
