This must do a pretty stringent check of people leaving the theatres because i could see many people simply trying to steal these to use later when the movie comes out on BR/DVD.

They never cared about the glasses before so I doubt they will for this movie.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

But wouldn't they be more expensive to produce with these ones?

I took my glasses with me when I saw UP in 3D. They had a basket to put them in, but it wasn't like you had to.

No. The glasses in the pic above are what every 3D movie uses now.

The kicker is you get charged the extra $2-$3 even if you keep them for the next movie.

Geez I need to write a "Guide to 3D Movies."

One of my friends review of the movie.

"I just saw Avatar 3D today and... it changed my life. I swear I spent 1 whole hour exhausted after it finished. The story's not all that but the level of immersion achievable is absolutely incredible. Made me feel like I was watching the world through someone else's eyes. Truly magnificent. With the being said, if you spend money on watching this through traditional means consider it wasted.... this movie was filmed for 3D glasses and it's full grandeur won't be admired without them! Albeit it puts anything out there to shame in terms of visual effect and just the amount of detail rivals that of the LOTR trilogy so even in traditional form it's one hell of a greatly crafted piece of film. James Cameron is the man. "

                  Just saw it....

                  Amazing.

You feel completely immersed in the world of "Pandora". I personally thought the story was great, nothing that hasn't already been done, but it was still really good.

Loved it and def plan on seeing it again.

There were some cheesy parts but I loved the movie and along with Star Trek, it's one of the best looking movies I've ever seen.

So at a regular theatre they won't have the glasses for viewing? I'm definitely wondering if they'll have a place in N.O. since I'm going for the break. Would be a nice family outing for the in-laws.......

                        Just a warning:

For a movie as big as this, especially with the Christmas season coming up and people may be waiting to view it with their families...

Spoiler tags are a must for anything specific. The reviews we've received in thread so far have been perfectly fine...but if you're going to talk about a specific scene, use spoilers tags until further notice.

                        Thanks.

Depends what you mean by regular theater?

You do NOT have to see it in Imax if that is what you mean. My hometown theater is just a crappy 12 theater $5 per movie, but they have 2 theaters with DLP projectors and show movies in 3D.

Look it up online. My theater for examples has a listing for Avatar, and Avatar 3D.

Yeah, you can see it in a regular theater...as long as it has the 3D capabilities.

I would def advise seeing it in 3D. It helps with the complete immersion of the film.

These are the glasses that are used for 3D now. It's not the cardboard blue and red that completely ruin the picture

I know My Bloody Valentine was in 3D on the DVD release. Came with glasses.
So the My Bloody Valentine DVD came with the same glasses that are pictured above or the cardboard glasses and did the movie actually look good on a HDTV in 3D? I watched Monsters Vs Aliens with my kid and they had some animated short film in 3D included in the DVD but with the cheap glasses and it did not look very good on TV.
