Re: (500) Days of Summer
Yes - very much.
SpoilerI personally think it was fate. That was one of the main themes in the movie, so I thought the ending was very nice.
Anyway, great movie. Probably not a movie you would want to watch with a new girlfriend.

Oh yeah, during the dance sequence the part where he looked at his reflection in the glass of the cab and saw Han Solo was hilarious.

Re: (500) Days of Summer
I really like the soundtrack to this movie, it's a great mix of songs. Some I could do without, but I heard a lot of songs for the first time and ended up loving them.My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

Re: (500) Days of Summer
Just watched this again. Such a great flick.
SpoilerIt was definitely all about fate. At the end, the narrator begins to say that the main character is convinced that there is no fate as he walks away from the girl in the waiting room but is interrupted as he turns back to ask out the girl who turns out to be named Autumn. Come on. That's definitely fate... hahaOriginally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

Re: (500) Days of Summer
Spoiler
Right and that fits in with his character development. I mean, I basically thought of Summer as his very first "love". I thought the same thing when he straight up asked her out when in the beginning he was beating around the bush with Summer.
I still think the ending caps off the whole true love/fate/destiny theme of the film, though.

Re: (500) Days of Summer
SpoilerEven Summer admits at the end of the movie that Tom was right about fate and love. She said that she met her husband while reading a book in a diner and that she might not have ever met him had she gone to see a movie or a different place for lunch. She says Tom was correct about love and such, he just wasn't correct about her.
I think it's obvious that he "grew up," but that's not the theme of the movie.
Her name was Autumn. Lol... if that's not fate, I don't know what is.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

Re: (500) Days of Summer
Bought the movie last week and saw it over the weekend. GREAT...GREAT movie. I absolutely loved it and I've been in love with Zooey since Almost Famous. The acting was top notch.
AND this movie had a lot of references to me and the people around me LOL. My birthday is May 21 (a date mentioned at the beginning) and at the endSpoilerwhen the narrator says May 23 (my girlfriend's birthday) & my sister's name is Autumn. When she saw the movie, she was like OMG

Re: (500) Days of Summer
As one screenwriter put it:
When the two writers came up with the idea of naming the character Autumn, they must have done a happy dance.
It was perfect."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

Agreed, Minka Kelly is very easy on the eyes.
The split screen was the best part for me, besides the ending.Comment

Re: (500) Days of Summer
I liked the split screen, but I ended up watching the reality one 95% of the time because I knew exactly what his expectations were.
I think the dance sequence is my favorite part of the film. Just a great way to illustrate how one feels after getting lucky the night before.
