Just saw it.Thought it was pretty good, behind the original but ahead of everything else in the series. Brody is still pretty eh with me and I wish they would have given someone else the lead. My one complaint though

      Spoiler

Also Goggins was great in this movie.

Predator is probably my favorite movie of all time. And despite what the critics have to say, I always watch the sequels with the intention of enjoying them. (So I guess my review probably isn't the most objective...lol).

Anyways, as promised, I did enjoy Predators. Plenty of action with several hommages to the original movie. A few suprises and new things about the predator universe. The movie seemed pretty consistent with the prior films, although I am sure the gurus will be able to nitpick some points.

If you haven't liked the other Predator sequels, you probably won't like this one either. But if you are like me, and go to these movies looking for some fun Predator action with a few new twists on Predator technology & culture, you'll probably enjoy it.

I saw this last night. I enjoyed it but it was not as good as the first predator. I just did not like the story and how they put the characters on the planet.

What made the first predator story line more believable was that the troops were doing their own thing and were ambushed. Here the whole movie is about facing off with the predators.

I don't see how anybody could realistically expect it to be

It is really tough to compare any of the sequels to the original. In the 1987 film, more than half of the film was slowly building up and revealing the Predator. With any follow up films, the cat is really out of the bag.

                    Re: Predator reboot - Predators

That is not necessarily the case in my opinion. When I saw Aliens (the sequel to alien) I was floored how much better it was in the way the did the story and the action. Aliens in my opinion totally out shined the first Alien movie, though I feel the original was very good.

In aliens save for the initial nightmare scene early on, the build up to the actual meeting was quite slow and when contact was actually made it was well into the movie and it was very well done.

The build story up to the face to face meeting (literally) with the Alien was well done, while in this movie the build up was poor. It was like they had no idea how to build up a scenario that can lead to an **** battle so they just threw something at the wall to get as many armored guys as possible to fight the predators.

Saw this yesterday. Fun film. not great but fun. The thing I learned was that there are 2 different types of Predators. It seems they really do not like each other.

I think the key thing people overlook, is that it's really the only true sequel to the original.

They even tie the storyline and one of the main characters to the events with Arnold in it.

I think that was one of the key things about this movie. Overall it was good, just not great. But definitely not bad at all.

Saw it Friday night. Thought it was decent/good. Personally I'd rate it third in the series slightly behind AVP2; I kinda like the horror/action in Aliens vs. Predator 2. Nice additions to the Predator mythology but too little imo. I kept being reminded how strong the first one's cast was - Arnold, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, Bill Duke... have a better appreciation for the first's originality/writing and the cast
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

                            Re: Predator reboot - Predators

liked it. There is no satisfying me as Predator is one of my all-time fav's though, so any sequel will find ways to disappoint me.

I may go into more detail later, but for now just wanted to throw in my hat and pretty much echo other poster's feeling about the film. It's good, not great.

One thing I'll say is that they "the dark night'd" Brody's voice, so he has taking a dump voice the whole film and it doesn't work (not sure that it would ever be appropriate).

And another thing I'll say lol...is that the purposeful comedic relief moments, although quite funny, are totally out of place considering the mood of the original.

There really are a whole whack of odd things worth pointing out.
