A buddy of mine got one. It's pretty slick, got nice potential. The touch screen is not as responsive or snappy as the iphone and ipod touch though. It just seems to drag a bit, I dunno.

The iphone is a little more responsive, but for a first gen effort, I think it's great. My only real issue is the keyboard, hopefully there will be an app for a landscape keyboard.

Update 1.03 came out on Friday....

Fixes a few issues, some say the battery is now superb.

The SDK will be available to the public by August, I believe, so it shouldn't be too long before things start trickling in. In the meantime, Palm will be releasing a few solid apps here and there, and there are tons of Web Apps available that work on iPhones that work great on the Pre too.

Keep your charger at the ready, the battery life is terrible, this is an issue with all smartphones not just the pre.

I have the phone. Love it so much. I can't go back to a "normal" phone again. The multi-tasking is just unbelievable. I love being able to do so many things at once. Keyboard is kind of small, but very workable. They JUST released version 1.1 of the WebOS and it's fixed/added a few nice touches. Apps are nice, and will be forthcoming. The App Catalog is not full yet, but there are tons of "homebrew" applications that are trickling in. I expect the official App Catalog itself to get really busy within a couple of months, which is great because the iPhone App Store didn't come out until the 3G. One thing I'm extremely excited for is the Flash compatibiltiy that's coming in October. That's going to add so much functionality to an already awesome phone.

The phone has some hardware issues but they're slowly being ironed out. I'm going to have to switch mine out for the second time. First one had screen blotches and random shut-offs, this one has the "Oreo" effect which means the screen twists and is really loose when the slider is closed. The newer ones seem to be better though. Other than that, no real problems. Sometimes the phone gets sluggish when playing Pandora but apparently that got better with the 1.1 update.

Battery is sketchy too, but people are saying it's getting better. I've had the phone off the charger for almost 12 hours now and it's about 60% battery left. Not great, so a car charger or another charger is imperative.

If you're looking for a phone, I HIGHLY suggest looking into this one.

Thanks man, yeah I'm seriously considering it. I can upgrade this weekend and I am on the fence.

What sort of warranty is there, or did you buy a product replacement plan?
