I thought it was a fun movie. Waiting for it to hit $10 before I see it again on blu-ray, though.

Based on the reactions it got here, I watch Pitch Perfect last night.

I also like Anna Kendrick, she's a great little actress.

I enjoyed the film. It was pretty by-the-numbers, but it was cast well and executed well. The music numbers were great and all fit in the film.

      Very enjoyable.

Ended up watching this again last night on a whim with company over. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it again. I don't know who the guy is who took the main "love interest" role, but great, but not over the top voice. I need to see more outtakes too.

Saw Mama last night. Decent little horror flick with some spooky elements. Not great, not bad. Some silly plot developments as in almost all horror movies.

I'm not saying Premium Rush was fantastic or anything, but it wasn't horrible. I liked the multiple route slow-down scenes that gave you a sense of how quick you have to read the road conditions and make your move when riding in that kind of traffic.

I actually hated that. I thought it made him seem like some sort of superhero.

I thought the characters were laughably written. Why do I care who the other bike messenger girl loves? What do I know about any of them that makes me care if they live or die or ever find happiness? I don't know who any of these people are.

And the cop guy, who I like to call Bobby Monday, is like every cliche of a dirty cop rolled up into one movie and then woefully overacted.

I think that's the point. Its a definite throw-back to small-time action movies of the 80s like RAD, Dirt Bike Kid, etc. I enjoyed it for what it was and thought it was a nice action movie compared to other films in the genre.

Saw Top Gun in IMAX last night. That movie is all kinds of awesome. The whole time we were watching it, we we're just thinking about how cheesy and corny so many parts were, but it didn't even matter. Somehow it still is awesome.

But seeing the makeout scene on an IMAX was ridiculous. It was like watching two geckos have a tongue fight.

The Dark Knight Returns: Part One. Thought it was pretty good. This was only the second animated Batman movie I have seen, Under The Red Hood being the other, and thought they were both good. I enjoyed how gritty and brutal the action was in this movie. Only complaint I have is that Peter Weller, while a decent Batman VA, was not quite as good as Kevin Conroy. Note that I haven't read the graphic novel, so the story was fresh to me. Overall I would put it 3rd, tied with Batman Begins, in terms of the live action and animated movies I have seen.

Looking forward to seeing Part 2, even though I am not a big Superman fan, but the Joker playing a big role should make up for it. Do wish Mark Hamill was voicing the Joker though.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

A couple of very quick impressions from the weekend:

                      Trouble With The Curve
The acting by the main characters ranged from good (Eastwood, Adams) to average (Timberlake) but man, the story was just - as a baseball and sports fan - hard to digest from a realism standpoint. I guess if you don't know much about baseball, and more specifically scouting, than this movie would be more entertaining but for me, it just left me asking way too many questions, both in terms of plot and actor choices.

                      Frankenweenie
Tim Burton is awesome and I really enjoyed his take on a classic tale.

                        Clerks

I thought it was hilarious, it definitely had a different feel then any comedy i've seen but the fact that none of it felt forced was great.

If you enjoyed it, I would recommend you continue on with Kevin's 'View Askew' universe of films (release order):

                          'Mallrats'
                          'Chasing Amy'
                          'DOGMA'
'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back'
                          'Clerks II'

They are all enjoyable, though I think DOGMA is Kevin's best film.

Yeah I plan to, I remember these were some of my mom's favorite movies when I was growing up but I never paid attention or understood anything.

LOL, well that's probably a good thing in some respects. Really 'adult' humor, as you've seen. I would say 'mature' humor, but Smith would take umbrage with that

My son loves these films, I showed them to him last year when he turned 17. He's VERY mature and film-savvy, and wants to be a filmmaker.

Clerks and Clerks 2 are all-time classic comedies to me.

I enjoy Smith's work. Plus in Clerks 2, Rosario Dawson fits in well with them and she's always easy on the eyes.
