Yeah, stay during the credits when there is like a 1-2 minute clip on him watching Choi make a grilled cheese sandwich.

American Hustle. Not what I was expecting.... meaning in a good way. Well told story and solid cast.

        The Grand Budapest Hotel...

I liked it. This movie was brilliant. It was funny, exciting, violent and very colorful all bunched into one.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Very entertaining. Reminds me a lot of the Bourne movies, just not quite as good.

            Insidious 2, decent.

Which led me to Devil, it was good.

Which led me to Elevator, and it might be one of the most ****ed up movies I've seen, but a great view into pushing people to the limit.

              The Lego Movie

I wasnt blown away by it but it was a fun fun movie. The little twist to the plot near the end was pretty awesome too. I didn't see it coming at all.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I'm getting awfully terrible at keeping up with writing about the films that I see, so I'll leave the shortest of impressions.

                We're the Millers
I expected it to be incredibly stupid. It almost met that, but it's the 'good' kind of stupid where I enjoy watching it as I go. Always looked forward to watching more Emma Roberts. It was only somewhat funny, but not very laugh-out-loud hilarious. I'm guessing they'll find a way to work in a sequel, but I won't much look forward to it. My favorite part of this movie has to be the blooper reel though. Brought a tear to my eye.

                X-Men: Days of Future Past
I enjoyed this thoroughly, and I'm itching to see it again. Though for the time being, I can't yet say that I loved it. I think the sentinels were a wash and it had too many callbacks for me to keep with the present as I was watching the film. I was questioning the film's continuity as I watched it as well. Some magical scenes, but I thought most Mystique scenes were only 'okay' at best. I wanted this to be my favorite, but something is still holding it back. Blink and Quicksilver amazed, though.

                Thor: The Dark World
Maybe I go into the Thor films expecting very little, but man was this mediocre rubbish. That's really all I can say about it. Felt like a massive cash grab to me, and did very, very little to further the plot for the next Avengers film. I must say... if you watch both end credits scenes, that pretty much sums up my thoughts about the entire film. Just a very yawny experience from beginning to end, and IMO Thor does not stand up well on its own. At this point, Loki is the only fascinating character in those films.

                Pain & Gain
It's about time we see a Michael Bay movie with a script as tight as Bad Boys. Sure, there are some estranged moments where I would roll my eyes and there are far too many glamorized moments that deviate from the true story, but as far as everything goes, I ended up watching it twice while having Redbox'ed it. I thought it was solid, and it was nice how they created polarizing protagonists for the audience. On one hand though, it just goes to show why United 93 stands as one of my favorite films: because Paul Greengrass found something that he could stick so close to without having to change a thing. I wished more 'true story' films would do that.

                The Heat
Almost everything about this film was terrible. Melissa McCarthy was borderline intolerable, and my favorite trailer shot was even altered for the film as well. This just does not deserve to be written about kindly in any sense. Of course there were laughable moments, it's a comedy. That said, I don't know whether I dislike this or Identity Thief more. Probably this.

Checking out 22 Jump Street tonight. I've tempered my expectations, I have a feeling it'll try too hard to catch the same lightning in a bottle as the first did. So hopefully this mindset allows me to enjoy the movie if that is the case.

                        The Internship

This movie was beyond good. It wasn't excellent by any stretch of genre, but it was very lighthearted, colorful, and charismatic. Google is a fascinating and relevant topic, and Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson still have just enough brio in their acts that they can mold in the film appropriately. It may play a bit unrealistically, but it didn't lose the entertainment factor all the meanwhile.

I think this film might cater to me more than others, though. I live right in the Bay Area, I majored in computer science, and I'm right in the middle of the young hip crowd with the 80s reference. I also have downright loved every Vaughn/Wilson combo film to date. Yes, there are a lot of people like that, but I have a feeling some critics either didn't hit all of these notes or was expecting a second Wedding Crashers, even though it lacked a strong supporting cast with the likes of Walken, McAdams, Seymour, Cooper, and Fisher. As the film hinted at several times, the core's vivacity lives and dies with the top two billed cast members. I appreciated what they did here, despite a slightly overdue two hour run time.

It's out on Blu-ray this week for $4.99 at Best Buy. Without hesitation, I can say that the couple of clicks I had to make after watching this movie made this the easiest BD steal of the year for me. If people skipped out on it because of the PG-13 limitations, I'd say that not only played to the film's strengths, but you might want to give this one a look if you considered it but then dismissed it for the reviews. The story's unfolding might not surprise you, but the film itself might. I can't pick out much of anything bad about it. I'm sorry I missed it in theaters (though I feel like I would have been slightly underwhelmed if that was the first place I saw it, if that makes sense).

                            Underworld Evolution
This movie is very very blue and grey. The color palette is too boring for me. The story was ok, but kinda convoluted with hybrids, and immortals, and werewolves and lycans, and keys, and elders, and superblood and yadda yadda yadda. Kate Beckinsale was hot as hell and that made it all worthwhile. But man hopefully the new movie they're doing has some color to it. I know its suppose to be dark and brooding but man it was overkill. The only thing that pops out of the screen is their pale skin tones. Everything else is either a blue, grey, or black. No bueno guys.

                            The Lone Ranger
Every character in this was boring and forgettable. They must have thought just throwing Johnny Depp in there would make this film worthwhile but no. Complete waste of time from a characters standpoint. I did like the costumes and set designs though!

                            Austin Powers (the first one)
So many corny jokes that still have me laughing all these years later.

They nailed it. Might have tried too hard at some turns but they were only occasional. Had the theatre laughing out loud on multiple occasions. Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum play great off each other. Ice Cube got a lot more screen time and it worked. Any more and it would've been repetitive I think, but it was funny enough for his extended parts.
