      The Franco Doubleheader.

      Spring Breakers

I was hoping for a deeper film with this one. Yeah, I know, what?!

I wasn't surprised it really was just a film about girls in bikinis doing stupid things and a rapper playing the same role every non acting rapper plays in films.

Not to say I wasn't intrigued as the film went on, it just mostly felt like a blur of scenes capitalized by an ending sequence that might just make you give up entirely on the plot - as in it's unbelievably impossible.

Not necessarily a bad film, it's just not a good one either.

      Oz the Great and Powerful

This film completely surprised me and makes me want to dive deeper into the Oz catalog.

I really enjoyed it and thought it was well-written and carried a working plot. The acting wasn't very good as most of the actors seemed to just phone it in knowing they will never get acting noms for this thing.

As an original story (my understanding is it was original...I could be wrong), I think it carried a lot of the charm of Oz.

James Franco might have very distinctive facial expressions that make him seem like the same character all the time, but I think he played this one very different from the rest. The only good performance with exception to the Tinker.

Everyone else was typical and overplayed.

However, I recommend this one though it seems my opinion isn't shared by critics or viewers.

Back to the Future trilogy - I enjoyed these, but I liked the first one the most.
The Wolverine - This was a fun movie and the scene at the end of the credits surprised me.

I thought it was fine to link to your site as long as you weren't selling anything.

            The Black Hole
I don't think this one holds up too well. Some say it was a Star Wars cash-in,others 2001,those do hold up. This one not so much. More than that it's pretty much Heart of Darkness...in space...with robots and nowhere near as good as other things that have used that as a source. So it's not even original.

            Don't Go Near the Park
Unlike other Don't Go [insertthinghere] movies this one takes more of a silly fantasy slant than horror. Wasn't very good. Notable for an early Linnea Quigley role who is much more famous for Night of the Living Dead and Nightmare on Elm Street 4.

              "Fletch"

Vintage Chevy Chase. I thought he was better in these movies, especially Fletch 1 than the Vacation series. He just had those sometimes quirky, often smug, based comebacks that I would guess he helped write at the time. The scene with the proctologist (M. Emmett Walsh who is one of my favorite supporting actors of all time) remains a classic.

                "Moon River"

Fletch is one of my all-time favorite comedy films. Chevy was probably at his peak, comedically, in that time period.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I suck at doing movie reviews, so just watch this movie because it was really good. If I hadn't been so tired earlier, I would have already been through my second viewing now.

If you go to look it up, at face value it looks like it's just a high school coming of age movie (and it is), but without giving anything away, there ends up being more to it than that.

I'll back BlueNGold....I really liked 'Perks...' a lot. I just watched it a few weeks ago and I rented it again for this week.

I had no idea until afterwards that kid was Percy Jackson, either. LOL

Show up for Emma Watson and stay for a surprisingly deep, good movie.

                            Really want to see this.

I also just watched Blue Valentine. It was good, but it was almost too realistic and depressing.

You know that couple that fights, and a lot of times it's over the stupidest **** (so pretty much every couple ever)? Well, they do a really good job of depicting that here, and I don't feel like it makes for that good of a movie.

Don't get me wrong, I do think it was good, and I didn't go in expecting all sunshine and lollipops or anything. It's just in real life when you witness that type of situation you just want them to STFU and stop with the nonsense, and that tended to be the case here.

I would say his absolute peak was with Three Amigos! from that point on he saw diminishing returns as a comedic actor both performance and box office wise. The only thing that comes close to what he did before was Christmas Vacation. The rest is just very mediocre to bad.

I thought 3 Amigos was pretty mediocre. That cast should have put out a largely quotable comedy, so maybe it was the writing. But, overall, I thought it underwhelmed. I remember him being in a little known comedy just after he left SNL, entitled Under The Rainbow. I remember enjoying it, but can't recall his performance.....need to check that again.
