I think it was another one of the Hollywood generated "let's assuage our #metoo guilt and make another bad ***, powerful female movie" movies in the string. So when the agenda drives the product instead of making something of excellence ... this is what you can get often times.

When it comes naturally like T2, like the Alien legacy, like the more recent Marvel films.....it is so much better.
This felt really forced. Your right. The story was simply bad.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
We're using the Terminator franchise - which is largely horrible, but has always featured a strong female lead - to prove what exactly?

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
But even in End Game, the "let's band together sisters" moment was forced. Why would Capt. Marvel in that scene need assistance with her level of powers? She wouldn't. It was Marvel coming forward with their posturing on "we support women" when there's been nothing but great unforced moments of female heroes throughout.Last edited by daflyboys; 11-14-2020, 01:38 AM.Comment

Danvers did well against him until he used the Power Stone for a 'boosted' punch.
And as for her trip to the van, no....no.....she did not require assistance LOL.GO 'HAWKS!

"Why would Captain Marvel needs help here?? I just saw her fly through a ****ing spaceship and neutralize the attack!"
I don't get why she would have to even go on the ground against everybody there. Just fly up and over them, and boom. Or just fly through them, and boom. That's where my head was during that time.
I sometimes shake my head at movies that throw these agendas in my face, but I'm not out there looking for them, per se. I never would have even conjured this up had I not been told about it. I always would have been thinking about: "Carol can do this on her own."
Then a little later, H.I.S.H.E. came in the clutch in spectacular fashion!Last edited by Blzer; 11-16-2020, 04:21 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Right exactly. Somebody mentioned it before with a movie like Alien. Ripley's heroics developed "naturally" in light of all of the horror and even then it was all pure instinct in survival (considering that would be an actual real situation). I didn't think twice about the fact that it was a "female hero". It's never to imply women can't save the day or be the hero, it's more so the Hollywood element of we need to save face or show the world we're all about the movement. Then, you get what you get.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The thing that bugged me the most about the scene from End Game was, while it was definitely a cool moment in the movie, particularly as a comic book movie, Marvel's lack of substance prior to that moment (and Capt Marvel) made it feel less genuine.
I completely understand disliking poorly written movies and characters. It just seemed silly to use Terminator as an example of an agenda movie when the majority of that franchise is pure trash.

(for the record, I haven't seen any trailers for Bond so I don't know what's going on in that film's plot at all)Last edited by Blzer; 11-16-2020, 08:36 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Right .... just another in the string. And I'm not even sure that the content has yet to be fully divulged (and actually they shouldn't in the name of spoilers -- yet some more recent trailer makers think this is necessary for some reason), but there were enough mentions along the early inception and discussion to seemingly attempt having people "get used to" the idea. Ok, you know where I stand .... I'll shut up about the whole thing now.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
To me - it plays like the setup of a twist that'll be in the movie. But of course - we won't know until we watch.
