    Home Sweet Home Alone

I won't get too deep into this one, unlike I did for the previous installment in this franchise.

Yorkie from Jojo Rabbit was the main kid in this, and I think knowing that let me like him a little more. There is a McCallister appearance in this movie as well from one of the original actors, though that character is kind of forgotten about (I guess the movie thinks they served their purpose).

This one actually did something that none of the other Home Alone films did: it got me to root for the bad guys. Don't worry, this was the intent of the movie. Maybe not to outright root for them, but to give you a thought that it wouldn't be the worst thing if they got what they wanted. This one also nudges into why the police don't get involved, which could really be used for any of the HA films.

I'm a sucker for these. They're not good films in any sort of way, but they beat the Hallmark films this time of year and I know what I'm getting here. I got genuine chuckles and was actually satisfied with the outcome. I'm not recommending it, but time could have been worse wasted.

      Don’t Look Up
      Netflix

Really good movie and I love how it exemplifies the ****show our society and politics has become in the last 10-15 years.

Really well acted. Leonardo and Jennifer Lawrence were excellent as was Jonah Hill and Meryl Streep.

Just a good flick with a lot of dark humor.

        Unforgivable
        Netflix

Sandra Bullock gives imo one of her very best performances.

        This movie was gut wrenching.

          Scream (2022)

I'm going to see it again at some point before I leave longer impressions.

I liked it and am glad the franchise got another installment, and am hoping that it will have some more with what it left with as well. Admittedly, I was disappointed when I thought the movie was setting up certain things from what it introduced, but if it shows up in later sequels then I will be okay in the end. This was bloody fun, and outside of a few pacing issues it didn't lose too much footing. I would've done a few different things in one or two kill scenes (things that I also think Wes Craven would've done), but that's true for all Scream movies so that's not a big knock here.

Unlike The Matrix Resurrections, this franchise has been meta from the jump and its inclusion here didn't bother me. I do feel [their commentary] was one of the things that they were setting up with not enough punch throughout the film, and if they make more films I don't know what their commentary will be on or if they can follow up with it.

This doesn't best the first two films for me, but I do believe it is above Scream 3 and 4. I maintain that any Scream 3 scenes involving Sidney are fantastic, but the rest of that movie doesn't quite work for me. 4 has some unforgiveable moments and a poor artistic decision in its cinematography, and this movie doesn't have either of those which helps it over 4. So currently I say:

          Scream 2
          Scream
          Scream (2022)
          Scream 4
          Scream 3

              The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

We just watched the first of these a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it. This one probably wasn't quite as good, but it was still very entertaining. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson have a great dynamic going on. Salma Hayek was good as well, but the heavier focus on her took away from some of the Reynolds/Jackson interactions which is where this franchise really shines.

The Last Duel - 9 out of 10. Based on a true story. Best Matt Damon movie since the Bourne series. Ben Aflec is in it too.

A House on The Bayou - 7 out of 10. Some unexpected twists in this movie.

Yep, the Last Duel turned out to be a really good film. Unexpectedly

I definitely liked going into the second one not knowing what it was about. Admittedly I worked most of the story beats out pretty early, but they did a good job in keeping the universe's morals intact while still giving us surprising yet valid rooting interests. Not bad for a sequel that I never wanted to happen.

                              Fractured.

It was interesting. Suspenseful enough. Acting was just ok.

The premise was good, but the payoff wasn't a huge wow moment for me.

I'd say if you're bored and want to watch a decent thriller then check it out.

I enjoy it, but you're right it doesn't fully live up to its premise as a thriller. Still own it though and now want to rewatch it, even though I know most of the film beat by beat.
