        Live, Love and Learn (1937)

        plot summary

Bob is a struggling artist who paints for his own amusement. Julie is a rich society girl. When they meet, it is cute and they are soon married. Living in a small apartment with the constant company of close friend Oscar, they are poor, but happy. When the papers run the story about his riot in the park, Bob is suddenly news. With his private showing he becomes the society's newest sensation. Bob becomes serious, devoid of fun and adventure. Money becomes his prime concern and all the introductions are handled by Lilly. But this is not the life that either Julie or Oscar want.

Not a bad movie at all but feels a bit like a Capra knock off in some respects. There's a lot of really kooky characters in the movie and they're played wonderfully. I like how about midway through the film the tone shifts as Bob has become consumed by the want of money and throwing away his artistic principles. The movie is still a bit off-kilter but there's a tonal shift that moves it in a more dramatic direction while keeping the "ha ha".

Robert Benchley who plays Oscar is just wonderful as the delightfully friendly, eccentric drunk and he steals the show every time he's on screen.

This gets about 2 1/2 stars only because of the feeling of being a Capra imitator.

Oh and I find it hard to not like a movie starring the wonderful Rosalind Russell

Strangely not TOO photogenic but she always looked lovely on screen.

Rampage (2009)-You can find this on Netflix Instant. I recommend it, but it is gruesome.

The title say's it all, it is a movie about a young man who is dejected preparing to go on a rampage, and then it takes you through the actual rampage. I was stunned at a lot of scenes in the movie. I can't think of the right words to describe this movie but I thought it was very well done.

Brendan Fletcher's acting was top notch in the lead role.

I watched The Expendables. Was rather disapointed. Took too long for something to happen. I thought it'd be like From Paris with Love...which was 10 minutes of story and 80 of Travolta shooting people in the face...so was expecting 5 minutes of story and 80 of explosions and gun fights.

I think I just had to point out that I looked at that word for about three minutes to try and figure out what you wanted to say, either as a word or in acronym form or what have you.

Took me a long while to realize you were trying to spell "awesome."

Watched Wicked Little Things last night with the wife. It was alright, kinda strange and had a somewhat decent plot. Not bad for a streaming film on Netflix.

Watched Unstoppable last night. Excellent popcorn flick. Kept me on the edge of my seat, and had some humor in it.

Watched Civic Duty on Netflix. Decent indie movie about an accountant who was recently fired. A middle eastern man moves in next door and he becomes suspicious that he is a terrorist. He watches him constantly to the point where it consumes his life. Liked it until the ending, I hate when movies go hollywood.

I also watched Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Entertaining movie reminded me of Fargo in a way, only Fargo had humor. And oh yeah, plenty of Marisa Tomie in it.

Saw the girl next door. It was a pretty good film. I can't believe it is based off a true story. If you have a weak stomach I wouldn't watch it.

Toy Story 3 over the holidays. Very touching. Amazing how far it has come with graphics, especially textures.

Rewatched Mr. Bean's Holiday. If you're a Bean fan and you haven't seen this as of yet, it's well worth it. The love interest (so to speak) isn't hard on the eyes either.
