I don't think I could go back and watch those movies. I know I enjoyed them as a kid, so I'll just leave that fond memory in tact.

MIB III. Nice tie up to the series. Hopefully, they won't ruin it by forcing a #4 ..... er, like some series.

I'm 32 and TMNT 1 holds up just fine. Definitely worth a viewing for old times sake.

          We Bought A Zoo-

It's going to have that ending you expect, nonetheless the movie holds my attention throughout.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

John Carpenter's The Thing. Thank you Netflix. I was quite angry that you took it down a few months ago. But it's all okay now.

While on vacation, during downtime I watched:

              Reel Steel 3/5
              Water For Elephants 3/5

I thought both were entertaining. Water for Elephants was really good. Pleasantly surprised by that film.

I'm not sure what it was about Reel Steel people didn't like.

I don't get it either. Underdog stories usually go over well. I thought the movie was fine but the audio and visuals are demo quality.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

What I personally hated about Real Steel was the fact that I can't believe we were actually supposed to like any of the characters. They were all pretty annoying.

For example: The kid was supposed to be all cute and someone to feel sorry for. But he just came off as a whiny, spoiled, know-it-all brat. I couldn't help but A: want to punch him in the face; and B: think that his complete obsession with this sport proves exactly why this futuristic society is so screwed up.

Plus, I can't get over the fact that we were actually supposed to root for a freaking robot. Not even a cool robot we grew up with like Optimus Prime. Just a robot that, if you think about it, helped put Hugh Jackman's character out of a job.

And that's why I didn't like Real Steel.

Premium Rush - I guess this is (and Looper) the pre-flood before the inevitable JGL overload, but I really enjoyed this. It wasn't the greatest thing, but it was quirky and shaped out its own mold for the action genre. JGL was good, but Michael Shannon was amazing as he reminded me a bit of Gary Oldman from Leon except with Bugs Bunny for the voice. Overall good pacing. I probably could have done without the little fill-ins for each character, but it was a good way to change up the story progression. The stunts were well done. None of them seemed so over the top that it pulled you out of the experience of the film, but they weren't so mundane that you couldn't even tell if they were stunts or not.

Overall this felt like a small 80s "hip" action movie in the vein of Rad, Dirt Bike Kid, Karate Kid, etc.

Premium Rush is a horrible name for a movie. It sounds SO cheesy.

It sounds like a show that belongs on the Disney Channel of Nickelodeon or something.

Seven Samurai - I loved it. It was 3.5 hours but it felt like it went by pretty quickly. I feel like SPTO reviewing a movie made in 1954. I don't know how to explain it but I was totally engrossed in the film.

The Five Year Engagement - It was enjoyable and a few parts had me laughing pretty hard. I really enjoyed the Michael Jordan bathroom jokes. "Nothing but porcelain...POOSH!"

Nah, that's too current for him.

You should check out Yojimbo/Sanjuro. Kurosawa directed those, too. Yojimbo was later remade (originally without credit) as Fistful of Dollars. Its fun to watch American westerns, then watch samurai movies, and then go on to spaghetti westerns. Very nice flow of influences.
