Dazed and Confused - Of all the "high school" movies I think this along with American Graffiti are the best. Fast Times while being good I felt was a little over hyped. There's not so much a tangible story to follow as simply just riding along with these kids for a day. I love how the film follows the structure of hanging out with the central hubs, car swaps, and story tellings. Hands down this has to be McConaughey's best role and its amazing that he can sell such a creepy sleazeball so damn well. Not that the rest of the cast isn't pretty pitch perfect as a whole. Plus, the soundtrack to this is killer.

Drive - I watched the first chase scene. Its amazing how efficient that sequence is.

Went to Savages today. Thought it was a really good movie, good entertainment. Until it got to the ending. The ending went full ******. Once it was done we all walked out just like uhhh wtf did they just do.

Dazed is one of my favorites Watch it a couple of times a year at least. Nearly EVERY line in that film is quotable!

My friend and I riff that movie at work all day long.

Well I watched the last 2 Matt Helm movies, to say they were crappy is an understatement. Dean was lined up to do a 5th one but he backed out and wisely so.

So to cleanse my palette i'll be watching an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie that I haven't watched which is one of his better films. That movie is The Running Man. I'll either watch it overnight tonight or sometime tomorrow.

The Dark Knight Returns Pt1- 8.9

Awesome, first and foremost it wasn't our beloved Kevin Conroy voicing him but nevertheless the voice acting was spot on. The first thing I must say is that I found the art direction to be quite "unique" and different but it grew on me.

Now, I hear this is the Frank Miller comic which DC has made into an animated movie. The story was definitely intriguing, Batman coming out of retirement in a crime infested Gotham. I love how gruesome he is at first until he sort of clams down.

And all the Metropolis signs definitely made the movie feel a little bigger than just Gotham.

I hear this is the comic where he has an epic fight with The Joker and Superman, and seeing how well they did the mutant leader fight, i'm pumped for the Bats vs Superman

Thanks for this write up, I've been hmmming and hawing about seeing this. My one question: does the ending come out of nowhere or was it at a point where you could say "oh ok that was a good spot to end the first part"?

                  Thanks

It had its moments. Vaughn,Ayoade and Forte were great. Stiller and Hill mostly sucked. Worth a rent or watching it on TV or Netflix or something like that.

This scene gave the movie a mile-long leash for the rest of it. Seriously; after that, nothing could possibly make me hate that movie.

Except Bat-Nipples. Those would've ruined it.

I'll have to check this out.

I just re-read the graphic novel (getting ready to re-read the next installment) and it is an absolute must-read if you're a fan of comics, or just super heroes in general.

Miller's Batman is a very complex character, and it makes for a great read.

Just finished seeing The Cabin in the Woods and let me say it was a hoot. Another great source of entertainment with Joss Whedon's fingerprints all over it. If you're a horror fan or fan of Joss Whedon then I'd definitely recommend it.

                              Super 8.

Finally got the chance to watch this.

Felt like a mix of The Goonies and E.T. Or maybe that's just my way of saying it felt like an 80s monster adventure movie with kids. (Man, I miss those films).

I think the nostalgia immediately won me over. I liked the film.

I wouldn't consider it a great piece of story telling, but I felt it did a nice enough job of fulfilling typical character tropes. It had the basics, and though they were hit hard at you, those basics are mostly overlooked in films.

Heck, the kids made a super 8 film that makes more sense than the plots we see.

It's a fun film. The kids have varying personalities and Elle Fanning might very well be better than her sister.

I think a lot of us here had that same reaction to the film; a nice cross between E.T. and The Goonies.

I saw this is streaming on Netflix, so I'll have to watch it again.

Kyle Chandler is awesome; be nice to see him in more roles like this.
