Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Went through the first 3 (of 9) Torchy Blane flicks. You know, it's kinda neat seeing the progression in this series of B films as the characters all progressed over time and the chemistry between Glenda Farrell and Barton MacLane improved with each film. So far the 3rd flick has been the best with MacLane's character getting a bit smarter and the script was VERY good. The twist in who the muderer was came completely out of left field but made perfect sense.

I'll be watching both versions of The Fog then watch the next 3 Torchy flicks.

Just saw Gangster Squad. Writing was cliche, but the cast did a good job. O enjoyed it, but wouldn't call it a great movie. Just another gangster movie. Living in LA, I did love that they used a lot of the classic spots around town.

        V/H/S

Ran into it based on what someone said about it in the Netflix Movie Club thread. It was trippy awesome, freaky, and sporadic all at once. I was into it, and thought it was pretty well done for what seemed pretty low budget. I can see why people rated it low in some respects, but in others I thought it creeped me out in ways horror films are least able to do so these days.

          No Strings Attached

Wife and I watched this last night. Pretty enjoyable with some laugh out loud parts. Probably one of the few movies I find Natalie Portman to be attractive in.

I saw UHF last night...and this morning again, though I only had time for about 1/3 of the movie. But I've seen it many times before. One of my favorite movies.

I watched this last night. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I enjoyed it and some of the scenes or tapes genuinely freaked me out.

I also watched Looper. Pretty cool movie and concept. I thought they did a good job with JGL with making him look like a younger Bruce Willis. And Emily Blunt was very sexy.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

                  Pitch Perfect

Was pretty good, and pretty funny. I'm pretty in love with Anna Kendrick, as I've liked her in every role of hers I've seen (Up In the Air, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 50/50, and now this). The singing was good, and they didn't have to boast this film with models left and right... though thank goodness for having Alexis Knapp!

The best part really is that it wasn't too Gleezy (singing appeared genuine and only fit within the story where appropriate), and it didn't feel too compelled to be stuck in this generation's music. It kind of hit all genres and eras. I didn't even mind when they sang Miley Cyrus on the bus.

It's probably all better when you're spending your Saturday night watching it with your mom. I don't think it would be as enjoyable by myself or with a group of guys, but it's still enjoyable nonetheless.

Now can somebody tell me who John Michael Higgins reminds me of? I picked him out as "that guy from the DirecTV commercial," but I'm thinking of that famous guy who's moderately older than Higgins, and always seems to have a smile on his face. Anyone know who I'm talking about? He's like in everything. EDIT: Ah, got it... a young Fred Willard.

Zero Dark Thirty (aka Hurt Locker 2)

It was better than the first one, but still not as good as Argo. My military intelligence background could be part of that though...

Saw this last night and despite going in thinking I would love it, I thought it was horrible. ZDT can't hold Argo's suction cups. But I know I'm in the minority with that.

Caught most of Blades of Glory on TV last night. It's so ridiculous and if you don't like Ferrell, you could easily classify this as a horrible film, but I get a kick out of it.

                          Bourne Legacy.

Ended kind of abruptly, decent action of course. Not something I'll be going out of my way to watch again.

                            Here Comes the Boom

It was alright. Bas Rutten and Henry Winkler were fantastic and brought up the quality of the whole movie. Would've been below average without them. I was put off in parts because some of the real guys were themselves but some weren't. Like Brian Stann was still Brian Stann but Krzysztof was Ken Dietrich,Sonnen was just some random un-named oppoent and I don't think they ever actually said Mark DellaGrotte's name. Also that many people don't show up for prelims nor do they give it the main event style spectacle. Kevin James isn't throwing no flying knee either. The heck was that?

Faces in the Crowd. Good concept, so-so delivery. Worth a rental if you like "who did it" thrillers.

Yogi Bear (3D). Basic kid's movie but amazing 3D from start to finish. Glad I didn't pass on picking this up.

Underworld Awakening (3D). Better than Rise of the Lycans, but not better than the first 2. Was fine in 2D, but was just too dark to make the 3D worth the higher price.
