Grudge Match. Was actually pretty decent. Had a few laughs. Got easily predictable toward the end. I will go on record to say that Kim Basinger is still quite attractive, even at 60.

The scene during the credits was funny too.

For those in the know: Should I go see Wolf on Wall St. or Americn Hustle?

2 Guns - Solid work by Denzel and Marky Mark. They had real good chemistry. Bill Paxton did a fine job, as well. Some good action scenes, some good comedic timing and an okay plot. It was worth a watch and I'll add it to my collection at some point down the line when I see it on sale for 7.99.

Yes, the glut of characters was overkill. I'm not sure why they couldn't keep to a core of the good and bad as in X2 (and maybe make reference to their respective troops/armies), but, yes, keep Cyclops and Nightcrawler. It's funny... in X2 there was only one brief moment where Rogue wanted to unleash her powers aggressively, but was held back.

I've been on a soccer kick lately (no pun intended) and watched United last night, a drama about the 1958 Manchester United squad. I enjoyed it, although I might have enjoyed it more if I was a United supporter. It covered them being the youngest team to win the title, the plane crash, and refusing to fold the team following the disaster. It somewhat focused on Bobby Charlton, since he was one of the 4 surviving players (and I think the only one still alive when they made the movie).

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

So still trawling through the old movies I thought it was amusing that my next movie is called Black Tuesday since well, today is Tuesday. I actually watched it yesterday and wrote my review but just posted it just now.

              Anywho....

              Black Tuesday (1954)

This is a little known and rare Edward G. Robinson flick as he stars as a gangster on death row who makes a daring prison breakout with Peter Graves as the younger cop killer/bank robber who gets shot at and screws with their plans as he is laid up and they have to hide out in a warehouse.

The plan called for a lot of kidnapping of innocent people and so the 2nd half of the film turns into one of those "confined spaces" drama that depends a lot on the acting. Thankfully the acting in this movie is uniformly good as Robinson is the most vicious i've ever seen him as he's constantly flying off the handle slapping women, shooting friend and foe alike and just generally being one step from going nuts. The only person who can calm him down is his moll played by Jean Parker who does a wonderful job in her limited role.

The movie has a bit of a moral debate to it however it falls apart a bit as Graves and Robinson protest to their captors that they deserve a chance to live etc etc but one of the hostages, a priest played wonderfully by Milburn Stone (best known today for playing Doc on TV's Gunsmoke) rebuffs that idea by noting that they forfeit any chance of life by ruthlessly taking other people's lives without remorse. The end of the movie sees him telling Robinson that he hoped there would be one shred of dignity in him but that his soul is devoid of any goodness.

The strong acting by Robinson, Graves (who got a more adult role than he was accustomed to at this point in time) and Stone really makes this movie go. I give it a solid ***

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Now You See Me - Already been discussed to death on here but overall an enjoyable movie

Snow on Da Bluff (Netflix) - Story about 3 suburban kids in Atlanta that go to buy some drugs in a sketchy part of Atlanta. One of the kids brings his camera and films it as he gets robbed by a drug dealer named Snow. Snow then proceeds to film his life for the next month or so. Pretty good flick as long as you can understand him behind his thick ATL accent.

El Muerto y Ser (HBO OD) - Story about an Argentinian hitman diagnosed with 3 fatal tumors. He attempts to drive across the country injecting himself with morphine and other drugs as he tries to embrace his death. He meets some chick along the way and reunites her with her family. Very slow and with subtitles this movie somehow drew me in.

The Last Lions - Not a movie but one of the better lion documentaries I have seen. It follows a mother lion and her 3 cubs as they forced out by male lions and a new lead lioness. They take to a little island after crossing a small river (lions hate water btw) and seemingly find a new home until old friends & some new one's show up. Jeremy Irons narrates it and his voice matches up perfectly. Just a captivating documentary for animal lovers even though there are inconsistencies in the storyline.

American Hustle- Way way too long. Not as clever as they probably wanted it to be. Their attempt at one last gotcha moment was weak, telegraph from a mile away. 6/10 maybe add a half a point for Amy Adamssss

A question about American Hustle from what i've seen this movie looks like it takes place in the 1970s correct?

The late 1970s and/or early 1980s, if I recall correctly. Definitely has a 70s vibe, though.

R.I.P.D. - I don't get all the hate or negative reviews for this movie. It's pretty entertaining to me. Jeff Bridges was awesome in this movie...6.5/10

Prisoners - It was alright. 5.8/10. Kind of overrated in my opinion. Hugh Jackman was superb. On the other hand Jake Gyllenhaal didn't convince me as a detective. He just didn't fit that role in my opinion...

Wolf on Wall Street It was entertaining. Way over the top, but appropriate for the subject matter. Curious as to what got cut to get it down to a R rating.

Jonah Hill was great. Leo was solid as usual.

American Hustle: Really good, not quite great. Long as hell, but I was never bored. Bale gives a pretty interesting performance here.

Also Jennifer Lawrence is pretty. And so is Amy Adams.
