The casting in that film was pretty spectacular. Everyone fit their roles perfectly.

The Thing was on IFC yesterday. Not a big horror movie fan, but I love this movie. Kurt Russell and John Carpenter are a great team. It still has one of the greatest lines in movie history.

Caught The Judge last night. Man, it just never lets up. It was late when I watched it so I may have missed a few things but did any character have A redeeming quality? Every single nice moment was beaten into dust with a hammer. I'll have to see it again to know whether it's a good or bad movie. I guess they did manage to turn Iron Man heel while still pretending he's the good guy so that's interesting.Alabama Crimson Tide

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
What a waste of screen time. I'll watch Part 2 for sure, but I want my two hours back with this one. Given that the current cut of Part 2 is 127 minutes, they could have covered all of Part 1 in about the first ten minutes of that film. This was a ridiculous and worthless cash grab.
The first one is still by and large my favorite.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Run All Night: This should have been 90 minutes. And certain actors I just don't like in bad guy roles. Ed Harris is one of them.Last edited by daflyboys; 06-20-2015, 04:16 PM.Comment

Just got back from seeing Inside Out with my son. Easily one of the top movies Pixar has ever done, has some great laugh out loud adult humor and lots of feels that will tug at you. Going to see it again tonight with my son again and this time the fiance and Grandpa.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Most of the movies i've been watching have been a little too off the beaten path (as well as way too old) to make note of but last night I watched an excellent noir and one of the very few Humphrey Bogart films I hadn't seen before:
Dead Reckoning (1947)
Bogie plays a soldier who gets permission to investigate what happened to his fellow soldier and friend after he runs away rather than getting the Medal of Honor. This leads to an intriguing tale of love and murder. Lizabeth Scott plays the femme fatale to a tee while Bogart is his usual good self. The plot isn't TOO complicated like some noirs can be and the lighting/cinematography is just AMAZING. This movie uses the B&W photography to create mood and atmosphere and there are a ton of shots that are perfect for still imagery.
The only thing that I can knock the film for is the over use of narration for most of it but Bogart delivers his lines flawlessly and you get a real strong sense of how he feels. The dialogue throughout is very much in the vein of a tough guy detective novel which fits Bogie's character real nicely. The villains of the piece are also quite pulpy and would fit well in a Mickey Spillane novel.
I give this a strong 4 stars.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Chappie. Not sure what I was really expecting, but it was alright. Seems like it would have done better at the box office by toning down the violence some and had a PG-13 rating.
Taken 3. Decent, but enough already.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally broke down and watched the TMNT movie. I was holding out hope that it wasn't as bad as people said it was. They weren't wrong. I do think a decent job with the look of the turtles(body types) and Splinter definitely looked like an oversized rat. Shredder was waaaaaaaaay over done. It did have some cool action sequences But I think the cgi job was ****ty overall. Like why did the turtles look all slimy all the time? Turtles aren't slimy. Or were they sweating? Idk either way would not watch again. I think fully animated is the way to go as far as ninja turtle movies, the live action ones just haven't done it for me.
