The sequel has one or two less segments, though. Made for the segments to be more stretched out, though sadly there were two of them that didn't do the viewer a favor by stretching them out more. I thought three of the four tapes were pretty good though, all the same.

This one goes for more gore shock value than the original one, and no handheld cameras are featured through the four segments, which was probably better to explain how it is people are filming things while running and such (hidden cameras on their person or GoPro cameras were the main features here).

I think there is a third one also available on Netflix, so I'll be checking it out as soon as possible. One thing I like about these films is they are so wacky and out there, and yet we can accept literally every single thing we see without it needing to explain itself. As I use the same adjective to describe the first one, this is the trippiest kind of horror in the genre that I can really accept (although 2 is not nearly as trippy as 1).
Don't watch the third one. I was a big fan of VHS and VHS 2, but Viral is awful. Big waste of time.

Which short is your favorite from the first two?

Edit: just saw that you watched Viral... I'm sorry I couldn't save you sooner lol. I did not enjoy Viral in the slightest.

Haha, I was still okay to have watched it. Better to know than not to. As I said as well, it's not that it was bad bad, but it just wasn't consistent with the first two films at all. They weren't fantastic segments, but they're still pretty enjoyable. Like I said, I would watch the first or second segment as a full-length feature film. Maybe not a very quality film all the same, but they were kind of cool ideas to use for found footage.

What is my favorite? Well, the first is not too deep in my memory what all of the segments were, so I might re-watch it. I remember the first was "I like you" creepy girl which was a great hook, the second was that dreadful honeymoon one, there was the one in the woods or at the lake or whatever which I vaguely remember, and there was the Halloween one... I think that was the last one, and I really, really enjoyed that one.

I'd probably say that Halloween one tops them all as far as ones I remember, but the cult one in V/H/S/2 was very awesome as well (kind of a corny pay-off, but the lead up and part of the execution, no pun intended, was very well shot).

Yeah, I'd say either the cult one in 2 or the Webcam one on the first one would be my favorite. The succubus thingy in the first film will always be memorable though, there were some pretty creepy moments in that short.

I hope they make another VHS that is more in tune with the first two. The skateboarding short in Viral was just silly. I didn't mind the magician one, and the parallel universe where everybody had

I don't remember the webcam at all, except for one thing (well, two ). I think this means I have to re-watch the first one, because I honestly don't even remember how the wraparound segment ends.

Certainly, and I feel the same way. The skateboarding one was too much like the cult one in ways, but there was one thing about it that I appreciated...

Otherwise, we're pretty much on point with one another.

Caught Real Genius on. Still like the movie, but it seemed more "frantic" than the last time I saw it. Quick cuts, certain scenes and characters missing for scenes at a time. It felt like scenes were missing.

Watched "Braveheart" again (in 2 segments). Don't care if it's historically inaccurate...it's just damn good.

And of course, there's always Stephen:

Was it on commercial TV? If so they probably edited it for time.

Forget which channel it was on, think one of the Encore channels. Maybe it's because I haven't seen it in a bit, but it felt cut up.

Mission Impossible 2 - I've never seen the first one and this was my first time watching this one. The most noticeable aspect of the film is how dated it is - a definite child of the late 1990s/early 2000s with the fashion, minimal story, and truly insane and illogical action sequences. Oh and of course pigeons. At times it truly felt like an 80s action TV show on the big screen. Its a fun movie, but there's nothing memorable apart from Metallica's music video which I vividly remember on TRL.

I recently watched all 4 MI movies on a plane (yes a long flight) to get ready for the new movie. It was the first time to see any of those other than the third since I originally saw them in the theater. MI 2 was before and is still my least favorite of the movies. Maybe it's Cruise's longer hair that they felt they needed to slow the action scenes down a little so you could see it wave around. I'd rank the movies 3 > 5 > 4 > 1 > 2.

                          I loved M:I 2.

I've only seen the first 3 though and it's been a long time since I've seen 2, so I'll have to go back and watch it to see how it's aged.

I have the same order as Kevin. MI3 was great because Hoffman (RIP) was one best villains I've seen on screen.

I said it before, I think in the thread on his passing, but he's one of the best villains ever in a movie to me. Just the way he was so nonchalant about killing Ethan's wife in front of him before he killed him was chilling.

I haven't seen the new one yet but MI3 is my favorite of the 4 I've seen as well.

The villain in MI5 is very good as well, second best in the series. I won't give it to Voight just because he is a big name. Hoffman's character is the most memorable, though.
