What movies have you seen recently?

Started my MCU run on Disney Plus. I have not seen 75% of these movies.

I am doing it with the Phase method.

    Phase One

Iron Man and Iron Man 2 down. Thor is up next.

Enjoyed both Iron Man films a lot.

So here are the MCU movies I have seen:

    Iron Man
    Iron Man 2
    The Avengers
    Ant Man
    Ant Man 2
    GOTG
    GOTG 2
    The Incredible Hulk
    The Amazing Spider Man
    Captain America The First Avenger

As you can see I have a lot to still see. So looking forward to it and sharing my thoughts on the universe.

In contrast I have seen everything in the DC Universe as I was a huge Superman and Batman fan growing up as a kid. The only Marvel hero I really got into as a kid was Spiderman.

Just a heads up: The Amazing Spider-Man isn't an MCU film. If you meant Spider-Man: Homecoming, then aight haha.

I'd actually be surprised if TASM was on Disney+ at all since that's a Sony film (as is SMH, but at least that one is once again in the MCU).

        Enjoy the run regardless!

Yes Spiderman Homecoming.....Saw that!! Was great.

So I re-thought it. I am going the chronological order. So we watched Captain America The First Avenger last night (Already saw it in the theater and loved it) and even better the second time.

Captain Marvel up next! (Already saw Iron Man 1 and 2 so we can skip past those and stay in order).

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

If you haven't seen them before I'm not sure watching them in chronological order is the way to go. The universe is setup brick by brick, I haven't watched it back in order but I just feel like you might miss a lot of context.

12 Angry Men (1997): Not even sure what I'd rate this one, maybe a 3.5/5. I preferred the original, Henry Fonda was carrying in a way that I don't think Jack Lemmon really did. It was cool to see Tony Soprano, Admiral Adama, and Johnnie Cochran all in the room trying to figure things out. I do think the more diverse cast adds something, when the dude jumps up to defend the kids from the slums it feels more authentic.

Dark Phoenix, 1/5: This movie sucks, just awful.

Black Widow, 3.5/5: Enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. Once the pheromones came in, I kinda clocked out. Also, the one resource the world has too much of...that was odd.

Atomic Blonde, 4/5: Watched this again specifically because Black Widow made me want to watch a chick ****ing people up movie. More specifically, there's a part early in BW where she takes a glass plate across the face and just eats it...not a scar, not a drop of blood, not a bruise, nothing. Immediately I thought how much more impactful it would be if she took damage like Lorraine, and seeing the staircase fight again reminded me what I was looking for.

Star Trek (2009), 3/5: Never been a trekkie so figured I'd check this out, thought it was a good kinda paint by the numbers sci-fi movie. I don't have a history with any of these characters so I didn't know what to expect, but I thought it was cool enough. I've always seen Star Trek as the more "cerebral", thinking man's Star Wars so to speak and this just kinda felt like Star Wars but it wasn't bad. On to the next one.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

So what is a general consensus watch them with the Phase method or chronological order.

I can still go right back to Phase 1 vs Chrono.

              Curious to hear.

A few posts above lays out what I had already seen in the MCU.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I would do phases. I just looked at a list of the chronological order on rotten tomatoes and it’s not terrible but the thing that threw me off was how early you’re watching Captain Marvel, that was like right before End Game which seems crazy to get to so early. I’ve never watched them in that order so maybe someone who has can speak to it, but I can’t imagine what you’d gain outside of just watching them in release order. Only thing I would change is probably watch Black Widow sometime between Civil War and Infinity War so it’s not completely out of place like it ended up being.

I mean Captain Marvel takes place completely in the 90s. It makes sense why it's so early in the chronological order.

I would wait to watch this if you haven't seen all the movies, though there's not really any spoilers here, but it's hard to argue with this guy. He often makes salient points:

That dude saying End Game “felt like the last defiant stand of quality storytelling in the face of social justice” was a better joke than anything Marvel has ever put to paper, what nonsense.

THAT'S what you took away from all of that? Must have hit a nerve. Seems like Marvel is going to go down the same road (*cough* Eternals *cough*) with their universe as they did with their comics ..... and they almost went broke. If you can't see the pertinent and pronounced points, may have to look harder. However, if you want to follow Brie Larson into the future .... all the best to ya.

Woke up wanting to watch Tenet...somehow ended up watching The Prestige and Memento instead so I guess it's Nolan week. Original plan was actually to watch Yojimbo and A Fistful of Dollars but that didn't happen.

The Prestige, 4.5/5: Wolverine and Batman in a love triangle with Black Widow, fighting for custody of Alfred, chances of this being a miss were very close to 0%. No way a movie about magicians should be this good, I especially love the part where they're sabotaging each others tricks, hysterical. Did not notice Bowie as Tesla but probably couldn't have picked him out of a lineup to begin with.
                                Spoiler

Memento, 5/5: Not Brad Pitt from Fight Club, Trinity from the Matrix, Ralphie Cifaretto, another great cast. Every scene Trinity is in just stole the show for me, the way they set up her role was too dope. Infinite questions.
