    WTF MICHAEL?!

Yeah, isn't that the one that should only be used by licensed anesthesiologists? I read that and just shook my head.

Yeah, propofol is def. not a home sleeping agent... really only used for general anesthesia for surgeries and such. eesh.

Was he trying to kill himself slowly or was the Doctor bad news? Those are some serious drugs.

I think the man just wanted to rest.

That could be. I am sure he was under a lot of stress.

Jeez, I understand how this is a money making opportunity, but it still sickens me to a degree that people would sell memorial tickets on ebay.

That is what make the world go around. MONEY! Sad indeed, but it is what it is! Any ways I was watching him with D. Ross. They did some songs together. He sure could sing.

                  Amazon was hit hard.

Reports said that Amazon sold more Michael Jackson merchandise in the 24 hours after his death than they sold since 1995.

How long has it taken for funeral/burial arrangements to be made for this man. Yet 2-3 days after his death, it was confirmed that rehearsal footage for his final tour would be available for sale on DVD and BluRay soon.

Only in Los Angeles would a city with a half-billion dollar deficit, in a state with a 26 billion dollar budget shortfall, spend two and a half million dollars to bury Michael Jackson. Including eating into the OT reserves of 2500 police officers.

Considering the taxpayers are paying for the memorial, it seems only fitting that they'd be able to sell the tickets for profit.

Yeah, this is pretty BS IMO. The city shouldn't have to pay for any of this, not when they are laying people off.

I get your point about the tickets - I'm mostly interested in knowing who is banking on that.

I disagree about the taxpayers and the police officers, but only because it's Michael Jackson, and I don't say that because I'm a fan; I say it because it's Michael Jackson.

No matter how the memorial was handled (private or public) it would become a nightmare in LA. People would come in the thousands to get close even without permission. The police would be involved regardless. It could potentially be a worse situation for the taxpayers and those officers, with many probably being called into duty on their off day, or being rerouted to the memorial.

It's costly when something like this is done, but I think it's more costly when it's not done and you leave your city open for potential dangers and problems that could cost much more than the budget laid aside for this event.

I mean, I get it that you don't like Michael Jackson, but how else do you expect the city to handle this? A music legend just died and there are a ridiculous amount of people that are not only fans, but fanatics that will take every opportunity to see the man for the last time.

I agree that the city has to do something, but they should be paid by private people (like the Lakers parade), not having to fund all this themselves....

I'm not against MJ, I just think it's horrible that the city has to waste all this money when there are so many rich entertainment people who could kick in money to pay for this.

I was under the assumption that the city also handles those parades? Do private companies pay the police for those events? A legit question because I don't know. I just assumed it was always a city expense.

If it's in fact privately funded then I get the argument now and wouldn't disagree at all.
