The opening episode of season 6 is titled:

    Spoiler

    Dun dun dunnnnnnnnn....
    Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

I think they end up before the crash or something. seriously. based on that comic con stuff with the commercial and hurley with the "good luck" from winning the lottery, etc.

Like someone else said, they need to make it so the first couple of seasons are relevant.

One thing though, Terry O Quinn said he is done playing locke and that he is a new character now, if they go back, obviously locke would be locke again so im not sure how that would work.

Any way you look at it, at comic con, the writers said "just trust us" we know what we are doing, and im pretty much sold on that idea. regardless of how they play it, i trust they will wrap it up solidly and still have me wanting more after its over.

I assume it's a parallel time thingy where the plane never crashed and they successfully landed at LAX.

I still can't buy parallel universes when they spent so much time telling us that it's not possible. Not saying you're wrong, but really, these guys need to do something amazing to prove to me that it makes sense.

Also, didn't Cuse and Lindeloff state that time travel is done and will not be a part of Season 6? I'm sure I remember that comment. I guess if they aren't actually traveling then there's no time travel, but I still think that parallel universes are a concept of time travel.

What we do know is that S6 is supposedly very much like S1. There are apparently no flashbacks or flashforwards - instead another storytelling device will be used (is this parallel universes?).

If they spend a considerable amount of time before they crash landed on the Island then how is it like S1?

I don't know. I think my biggest fear will be settled with confusion and anger.

Horrible news. The final season will be broken up because of the Winter Olympics. The Olympics aren't even on ABC.

I bet you 10 virtual dollars, Fox won't break up American Idol during the Oympics.

I'm sure the last episode before the break will end in a major cliffhanger .. arghhhhh

It's frustrating but it makes sense.

Someone wrote a comment that the show wouldn't be canceled so it makes no sense to worry about ratings. I'm sure that ABC isn't concerned about ratings at this point with Lost. I'd bet that the producers were mostly concerned with making sure that a majority of Lost fans were able to watch the show without the pressure of the Olympics.

A lot of people like watching the Olympics. This is a nice way to take care of those people. Really, this news only affects a minority - the hardcore fan of the show.

Re: *** Lost: Season 6 (Final Season) ***

So they are going to break for 1.5 months for a 2 week event?

ABC math doesn't add up again. They probably can't find a show to put on in January, so they are throwing Lost in to fill the schedule or try to get more views for another show they will probably cancel.

                  Where does it say that?

It says that they'll air episodes in January and return in early March.

That sounds like a month to me. But, the only guess I have for 4 weeks covering a 2 week event is to take advantage of May sweeps.

Also, I didn't know that Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) is the title character in ABC's "V". Yet another Lost cast member doing a show on ABC. I find it too coincidental.

I'm just so ready to get this season started, but seeing the news about the break for the Olympics is a bit of a downer. I trust the producers that this series will go out with a bang, but I can't say that I'm not worried about a lot of questions still to be answered and what will be left out or left unsolved with only so much time for season 6.

4 weeks in Feb, early March means 2 weeks.

I can't wait for this season to start. Lost is the ONLY major show on tv (at least that I have watched and I have watched most of the big name guys) that after more than 2-4 years didn't start to go downhill. I think the reason for this is they actually set out a specific timeplan/plan for the show form the start where most shows just wing it each year.

I consider Lost fans to be pretty savvy. I assume the majority of them have a DVR. Even if they don't have a DVR, they could just buy it off iTunes/watch it on abc.com/dl off the internet.

Just like you said, there is no chance of Lost being cancelled so it can't be about ratings. Ad rates have probably already been set for the whole season.

As a fan with a DVR, I hate the break. I prefer to watch Lost with a new episode every week starting in January.
