Yea, that was one of the better interviews I've read from them. He actually answered a lot of the questions instead of just side stepping them. Can't wait for this season to start, and this year I'm going to try my hardest to look up any of the lost sites and see potential spoilers. It really did take away from my enjoyment last year when I saw spoilers compared to the first four seasons, when I just saw them all at once on dvd before the fifth season began.

LOST's finale is going to be about as polarizing as the finale of BSG. There's going to be either a love it or hate it type deal with no in-between. Guaranteed thats the case with all the threads this show hasn't answered yet

Jacob and Esau have been playing a game with each other for a very long period of time. It's some sort of combination of backgammon, go and senet; with the possibility of a few more.

Look at the image. Isn't the juxtaposition just a little too similar to be a coincidence? Locke talked about backgammon in the very first episode and for the final gotcha moment of the show to come back around to the origins would be incredible. Jacob is our light player and Esau is the dark player. The pieces are obviously not aware they're in some sort of game. Although it's possible that Alpert, Widmore and Eloise know about it due to their cryptic way of speaking to one another and how much they seem to know.

Likewise, the Adam and Eve skeletons were found with white and black stones. It's possible these two corpses were previous players of the game or two prominent pieces used by Jacob and Esau.

The frozen wheel, the pockets of magnetic energy and most importantly The Temple are all part of the board the game is played on. The board obviously being the island.

The victor of the game gets sole possession of the island or something along those lines.

Also, don't forget the discussion of loopholes that Jacob and Esau had on the beach and later in the foot of the statue. This implies there are rules that neither of them can break. This could mean there is a force higher than either of them or serious consequences such as the island disappearing forever could happen if they are broken.

If this isn't enough to convince you, let me drop a line Desmond said in 316...

"These people, they are just using us. They are playing some kind of game and we are just the pieces."
So yeah that's my theory on the show. I'm such a freaking nerd for writing it up...

It's a good theory. I'm sure we've had discussions about black and white pieces in the Season 5 thread (or I might have had them in another board that I visited at the time).

Either way, there's an obvious connection to black and white. Lost white lettering over black background shifting to black lettering over a white background in the Season 5 finale.

Whatever direction they're going with it, I can't pretend to know, but it's important. I just don't know if it's supposed to be subtle or if it's really extremely important.

I re-watched Season 5 of Lost on Netflix last week and it really got me pumped for the new episodes. I thought Season 5 was one of the best seasons and I'm hoping that they end the show on a high note. I always enjoy reading theories from you guys, so if anyone has any ideas about what happened after Juliet detonated the bomb, I'd love to hear them.

I want to lean more about the history of Jacob and the man he was speaking to at the beginning of Season 5. With Ben killing Jacob, what does that mean for the island? Is Jacob even dead? Exactly what was did the loophole consist of?

We got a lot of answers in season 5 but it left us with just as many questions. I can't wait until it's back.

I never caught his name being Esau. Makes a lot of sense considering all the Biblical and literary references though. I agree with the points that you made. It will be nice once we finally know more of the details about how their relationship/game works.

I feel like if we wanted, we could turn this into the Lost version of Team Jacob vs. Team Edward (I watch too much TV).

I'm on the side that believes nothing happened. Well, I'll elaborate. I think that whatever Juliet did is what was supposed to happen. I don't think she changed anything. I'm almost sure that the Lindeloff and Cuse will make us believe she changed something (early in the season) and then hit us with some reality that she actually changed nothing at all.

There are people that believe otherwise. They think Juliet did change something and that her actions will affect the course of history on the Island.

I'm mostly against that second theory because I feel that it ruins everything we watched. What's the real purpose of watching five seasons of the show if we're just gonna start over again and pretend it never happened.

However, if anyone has read the Dark Tower Series from Stephen King (and Lindeloff is a huge King fan) then they will know that there is a strong possibility Lindeloff will follow in King's footsteps and do just that. It worries me, but I also believe that if that's how it's done then Lindeloff will make sure it makes sense in the story.

I have faith that they'll pull whichever off.

If the lost showrunners pull something like the final chapter of the Dark Tower, it will be quite unsatisfying in my eyes. I don't like that whole idea that

It's been my biggest concern with the show since the series introduced time travel. I started reading the Dark Tower Series last year and finished it just before Lost Season 5 started. It has always dawned on me that Lost has similarities to the books and while watching Season 5, I feared that Lindeloff would complete the connection in his ending.

It is possible it might make sense in the entire mythology of the show, but I'm not entirely convinced. Like you, if Lost ended similarly I would be extremely unsatisfied with the entire series.

Very interesting. Especially the positioning of "Jesus" and "Judas".

Also take a look at the skulls under the feet of certain characters.

This is going to be a hard season to discuss fully on OS.

Lindeloff and Cuse said that they have gone through great pains to analyze every thing coming out for this season. So, the positioning is important.

you know one thing I keep hearing people talk about when discussing the next season is they say :

" The bomb cant send them all to Lax and act as if it never happened. That would make the first 5 seasons irrelevant"

I re-watched the first 5 seasons over the holidays and when you think about it, the same thing has essentially already happened. I mean, we watched these characters spend 4 seasons trying to get off an island, they get off and 5 episodes into season 5 they are back on the island. was season 4 pointless now?

I think if they tell the story properly they can pull something like that off. Im certain its going to be a crazy season regardless of what happens.
