I can see where you're coming from. There's always going to be a way to physically rent movies, I'm sure. But cost-wise and time-wise it just makes so much sense for "on-demand" type renting to take the lead and be the main way people consume movies.

Re: Blockbuster vs. Netflix: Let's settle this
Did you read what was posted? This wont bring new movies to be available right away, far from it, the delay will still be there for streaming and now it will be 28 days before you can even rent it through the mail. Im not sure how you came to the conclusion that the movies would somehow be available earlier as studios are trying to boost DVD sales and this is there way of attempting just that apparently.
"Warner Bros. is opening up more of it’s catalog to Netflix’s Watch Instantly streaming device."
And to quote the original AP source:
"Netflix will ... be able to offer more of the studio's movies and TV shows for subscribers to watch over the Internet."
Like I said, it's a step towards digital consumption (streaming) being the main way movies are rented, which is a good thing.Comment

Re: Blockbuster vs. Netflix: Let's settle this
Gotta go with the Netflix. This week I have watched "Rocky" "T2" and Joel has watched a whole lotta Spongebob. I did watch "She's All That." Was trying to keep that on the down-low, though....Streaming alone makes it worth it.
Note to Tiburon Marketing:
A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

Yes, I read it. Did you?

If this move encourages more new movies to be available right away, then I'm all for it.Last edited by The Chef; 01-10-2010, 11:36 PM.Comment
