Completely agree with Stumble/Brankles about Rita and the kids. I like them.

Quinn/the reporter I'm iffy on, but it's okay because she's attractive and they don't give it too much airtime.

Debra/Lundy/Anton...I'm eh, on. I've never liked Deb - think the actress is annoying and the character itself is annoying - and the Deb/Lundy thing always creeped me out. Anton is a cool character, though.

I don't understand why people would just want to see Dexter the entire time. Sure he's bad *** and all but it would get really repetitive.

It's not that so much as the fact that serial killers are usually lone wolves so the believability of it lessens a little. Although I know that some serial killers are married (like John Wayne Gacy). I think it'd be alright if he was married but maybe without having the kids.

Also, has anyone noticed how the show is straying from the whole idea that he has no feelings and cannot relate to people? It seems almost as if the character is growing and that is impossible for serial killers in that respect. Like the last episode where he said he'd rather be have the family know than to lose them, that's highly suspect in regards to the way a real serial killer would think, regardless if he's a vigilante "good guy" one or not.

Don't get me wrong, this is still one of my favorite shows, i'm just worried it's heading into a more cliched and unrealistic direction (i know it's already unrealistic so don't laugh, I just mean the character as a character study is changing in ways that would never happen for someone in Dexter's shoes IMO)...

Perhaps i'm alone in this respect because i've studied a lot about serial killers and their psychology and that makes me look at the show differently than I would as just accepting it as a cool tv show at face value. Anyone else though feel the same way?

I don't think they will ever make him fully "human."

Hopefully he struggles with his natural inability to connect with other people in a realistic way, instead of making a cliched change to being a complete person, like you were saying. That would be dumbing down to the fullest extent and ruin the show entirely.

I agree. I like the inner-struggle he has with trying to appear normal on the outside (family, wife, etc...) vs the killer that's inside of him. All the scenes for the kids makes you yearn for the scenes leading up to the kill.

I thought about this before and tried to look it up, but I really couldn't find anything conclusive, a lot of it depends on things we don't know like education level. I guesstimated about $60k before, based on his seemingly high education level, location, high regard in the field (in reality serologists, "blood guys", only seemed to make about half that) and lifestyle. He has to be making pretty good money for what his lifestyle is like, though for all we know he could make $30k a year and get a bunch of consulting work to make up the difference.

I thought 60K was extremely low for the kind of background it takes, not to mention the hours he works but apparently it's a pretty good guess.

What a surprising turn of events. Trinity Lithgow has a secret identity too, complete with Fortress Of Loneliness. Looks like the Dex Cave will be a thing of the past. On a bright note that's about $900 a month he will be saving. PS:Isn't it possible Antwon shot Deb and Lundy?

I thought Antwan did it before tonight. The way he reacted when she told him she slept with Lundy made me think that didnt happen. Whats funny is I still dont think it was Trinity that shot her.

The Trinity Killer is insane man. That hammer scene with the coffee guy was nuts. The fact that he has a family and this "actual" life makes for an incredible twist. I find it hard to believe that Antwon was the shooter. The look on Lundy's face made it seem as if it was the Trinity Killer. Next week can't come soon enough.

Anton as the shooter crossed my mind, but after the way he reacted, I highly doubt it was him. He has done nothing in the past, on the show, to prove that he is a good liar, that he is violent, or that he would do something like this. As above, Lundy's look definitely makes me think it was Trinity, though he has met Anton as well so it still could have been a "What are you doing here?" kind of look.

Trinity is amazing, and having him be a family man is an amazing twist. Not only because it adds a whole dimension to his character, but also because it may have Dexter questioning Harry's code. Harry changed the code up once already, to include revenge against blood, but now after being so adamant about "Trinity doesn't have a family, so that is why he is so successful"...Dexter realizes that one of the most successful serial killers is exactly like him. This opens up Dexter embracing the family more instead of trying to separate them because he has seen that it can be done, which could lead to less annoying scenes with Rita (I'm ****ing sick of her stupid over-reactions to everything Dexter does: "Oh my God, you lied to me about the apartment despite having a good reason, I don't know if we can stay married") and could also lead to Dexter over-looking something and making a mistake.

PS - this episode proved to me that Deb is only on this show because she is Michael C. Hall's wife. She is a terrible actress.

It was supposed to be some powerful brother/sister bonding moment kind of thing, and in the end turned into a scene that was funnier than 95% of the comedy movies released these days.

On a side note, if that is how she cries when something goes wrong, I would hate to be Michael C. Hall.

She was cast well before she started dating MCH.

That Rita **** annoys me. She stuck around with a drug addict abuser but she gets mad a Dexter because he lied about a car accident?
