I was surprised. You knew something was going to happen at the end, just didn't expect that.

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
Alright...I just re-watched the episode again and just wanted to catch the things I missed the first time. Seeing the Hall and Lithgow interview was pretty cool and giving their thoughts was intriguing.
SpoilerAfter watching the scene where Dexter kills Arthur, I had to pause and rewind the whole conversation because that had to be one of best conversations I've seen on this show. The fact that Arthur had already killed Rita and him thinking Dexter was out for revenge just shows how brilliant and smart the writers are. If you watch that scene, Arthur says along the line "you're picturing a heaven you're never see" and he was thinking Dexter was in denial that his wife was dead and trying to cope with it by killing him.
There are many questions raised and I'm sure the rest of you guys will post them.
One small question I have is, will Batista remember seeing Arthur at the headquarters the day before they caught him and discovered who he really was??? He might not have remember at that moment because I'm sure they're all busy trying to find him, but I'm sure next season, if Arthur's case is brought up, he's going to have to remember seeing him talk to Dexter and it's gonna bring up more questions especially now that Debra is finding bits and pieces info. about Dexter.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
I literally had to watch that final scene four of five times just to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. I feel gutted right now. At the beginning of the episode I was like "wouldn't it be weird if he went after Rita, she is a mother after all" but then I kind of forgot that idea. Holy crap. My mind is blown.Currently Playing

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
All I have is wow. I can't speculate or comment on anything especially since the interview posted proves that the writers don't really plan ahead. How could we know anyone's true motivation for anything if the writers don't even know?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
Such a crazy way to end it. Man next season is gonna start with a bang. Hope they pick up right where they left off. Just incredible. Sad we have to wait so long.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
Also..just thought of this....
SpoilerHow easy of a set-up is this for Quinn to automatically blame Dexter now for Ritas death. Seeing as he already thought Dexter was cheating on his wife I bet Quinn will try and pin it on him.
Also I don't think Batista ever looked at Trinity's face when they were at the station, so I don't think he will remember. Someone may though.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
Its not that they dont plan ahead...its that they dont plan everything ahead. Like he said in the interview, they knew they had to do it different then Season 1 and 3 where Dex killed the serial killer and went on with his life. Its a different approach to writing that most shows take. "Lost" is the same way. They have an idea about where the story is going to go but they dont always know how to execute it immediately.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
I honestly believe that with this ending the writers have painted themselves into a severe corner. But then perhaps they can figure a way out of it that I haven't thought of. The question is will Dexter report Rita's death to the police and risk Trinity's family recognizing him or will he quietly dispose of her like he does most of his victims and then have the scrutiny of the police looking at him for the murder (the police always suspect the spouse and she and Dexter had been arguing, and she had kissed that other guy which gives Dexter motive). I can't see how they resolve this without jumping the shark in regards to believability but then like I said, maybe they can figure it out..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

So, I'm not going to guess anyone's motive, anyone's actions, or the reasons why the writers felt the need to kill Rita. To me, they did it because it made sense for this season and that's fine. They haven't planned how it'll affect them later and that's fine too."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Dexter (Season 4)
Hall and Lithgow not knowing where the story is going next, or at least giving that suspense to the audience, doesnt necessarily mean that the writers dont have an idea where it's going nextComment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
I honestly thought the finale was going to be a let down given how amazing the season had been, and how amazing the Son of Anarchy finale was.
...
......
Hoooooooly **** was I wrong. Sons doesn't even hold a candle and I feel like I broke my loyalty to Dexter by holding it in comparison.
I agree with a one of the other reactions....may be one of the best hours of television I have ever watched.Comment
