Man, they are cold, cruel people on this show. All that was missing was hiding her face behind a newspaper as Ted walks by.

Wish I would have known Stacy Keibler was in this episode. She came by the office last week. Would have given me something to talk to her about besides her boobs.

I understand that, but with or without the yellow umbrella, he would have been in the mother's apartment. Unless the mother specifically finds Ted because he gave the umbrella back, it will have had little to no significance. Maybe I am over-simplifying things, but I though the umbrella would play a greater role, like the mother would see Ted with it and say, "Wait, isn't that my umbrella?" or something along those lines.

I hadn't thought of that possibility, but it would only work if Ted went back to get it within the next two to three episodes. Because it wouldn't be believable for him to go back a month or even a few months later to get an umbrella. And now that I think about it, I am really over-analyzing this.

Yep, in the next episode or 2 he needs to go back to get it and the roommate will be the one there. That would be the right thing to do, but I'm sure they won't show her until the last episode probably.
