Samsung Galaxy Nexus probably won't be released in the U.S. until after Black Friday; probably in December

Verizon may not launch the Samsung Galaxy Nexus until after Thanksgiving, as anticipation for the device continues to grow.

A leaked document containing Verizon’s advertising plans reveals the carrier does not plan to focus its campaign on the Nexus until after the Black Friday weekend. The schedule, leaked by website Droid-Life, shows Verizon will instead market the Motorola Droid Razr and HTC Rezound throughout most of November.

Verizon is the only confirmed carrier of the Galaxy Nexus in the U.S., but has stayed mum on a release date. Rumors circulated the device would launch on the network as soon as November 10, but the company’s advertising plan points to a release much later in the month.

The timeline laid out in Verizon’s ad campaign offers no solid date on the Nexus’ availability. The carrier may begin its promotions before the device goes up for sale, so the launch of the Nexus could come as late as December. Without a U.S. release date announced, the U.K. may be the first to get the Nexus since Samsung confirmed the device was set to launch in several European countries on November 17.

The Nexus is likely to be a top-selling smartphone, but it faces fierce competition during the holiday season. Motorola’s Razr phone, the iPhone 4S and the HTC Rezound will all be off to a running start at Verizon by the time the Nexus hits the network.

I know...it sucks hardcore. I'm gonna see how the Razr reviews are and go from there...not sure if I'll want to wait for the Galaxy Nexus or not.

You have to ask yourself whether a couple of weeks wait is too much to be locked into 2 years with the Razr.

          I'm waiting.

Besides, my upgrade date is 12/3...so this works out better for me.

I'm waiting as well....although my upgrade date was about 8 months ago. LOL

I'm probably waiting, but I hate the damn wait lol...

Usually when someone announces a phone it's in stores a week later, I hate the delay.

                Same here.

My problem is the last time I was due for an upgrade...I went months & months without upgrading. I just got fed up and got a cheap BB Curve. Little did I realize how agonizing a wait those 2 years would be stuck with a phone that I do not like.

Don't want to go through that again.

Think i'm going 4s. Or I may keep Evo until Sprints LTE goes live with their LTE devices next year. Doesn't look like a Galaxy Nexus is coming out.

Evo 3d is a great choice!

Yeah, I don't want to get a phone I hate, so I'm waiting to compare the Razr and Galaxy Nexus so I can get the best of the 2 (I'm concerned about battery life and whatnot).

HTC Rezound was announced yesterday. Sounds decent, but HTC has horrible LTE battery life (the Thunderbolt was atrocious I've read), plus it's somewhat bulky. Unless you love HTC and Beats by Dre you're better off with a Razr or GN I think.

Have Evo for over a year. Not interested in the 3d.

Droid Razr reviews are coming out and it's doing pretty well. Makes it tough to wait for the GN to drop, but I have to stay strong and wait to hear the Galaxy Nexus reviews.

2 very solid phones though, I doubt you could go wrong.

I saw a review for the Razr today. The only issue was the battery life. The Razr's battery compares unfavorably against the iPhone 4S and Galaxy SII.

Finally DL'd Opera Mobile, don't know why I never did in the past. I read enough so-so reviews that I never bothered. The syncing of bookmarks is the biggest reason I'm bailing on Dolphin, though I already miss that Dolphin viewed every website as Desktop while Opera views a lot of sites by Mobile. Is that an option that can be changed?
