Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Yeah, I'm beyond tempted. My original still gets a ton of use, still going as strong as day 1, so I don't really need one. Not that that's ever hindered my irrational 'toy' spending. Found 1 Staples that has a few in stock, 16GB specifically, and the only reason I narrowed it down there was due to the $30 off coupon. But I would be eyeing that 32..Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Does anyone actively read the XDA forums? I just found out about it from a friend. I recently purchased the s4 and now considering rooting it. However, I am having trouble figuring out the point of rooting your phone. Can someone point me in the right direction? thanks.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Gaining root access is likened to administrator privileges on your computer. You gain full access, allowing for things like the installing of ROMs and kernels, as well as other benefits. Alternate ROMs can provide additional features and benefits, and kernels can allow you to do things like over and underclocking of the CPU. You can also make full backup images in the event that something, somewhere, starts acting up. Some device and kernel combinations can even allow you to manipulate screen colors and gamma settings, for those that feel their particular displays aren't providing an authentic output of color. This is pretty limited, though, relating to device / cpu / kernel limitations.
I'd start reading up on your device in its respective section at XDA. It can be a little overwhelming at first if you're new to the scene, but there should be a lot of useful guides and helpful members. I don't doubt toolkits exist for your S4, but it's always recommended a user has a basic understanding of root related information before diving in.
Took the plunge and got the new N7! Two dead pixels! This thing screams, though. Feels great in the hand. But, yeah, two dead pixels. :banghead:Last edited by skywalkah; 07-27-2013, 08:12 PM.Comment

Just got mine this afternoon! Going to charge it a bit here first, and then unwrap it.
I honestly can't believe they made it slimmer and lighter...looks and feels sweet.
I may root it before doing anything to it, primarily just so I can get the Sixaxis app. Never rooted anything before, so I hope I don't screw anything up.

W00T! No better friend to the root scene than a Nexus device! So simple. New 7 really does have a great feel to it.
Really am happy with this device, the camera is even pretty decent. Trying to check all my bases and it all seems in order, apart from from tiny little spec of 'something' under the screen. Now it's a matter of waiting for some CM 10.2 goodness..

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Just rooted my Nexus 7 (2013) on my Mac in about 10 minutes. Freaked out when I booted into recovery mode the first time and got the dead Android dude with a red triangle coming out of his gut.
Reimaged the device and installed SuperUser no problem after that. Sixaxis app, here I come!!XBox Gamertag: djbeth77

Ahhh, this new N7 is amazing! Getting great battery life, too. Amazing standby. Probably could've squeezed out another hour of books usage.

Awesome! I'm loving mine as well. My old N7 is also gaining some more battery life as well.
Installed sixaxis on the new N7 last night (took a little finagling due to having a Mac) and am having a blast with the touch games like Modern Combat and Real Racing.
Just waiting on some cases I ordered for the new N7. Solid little machine.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
So for some reason my phone won't work with an AUX cable in my friend's car, but her phone (which is a GS3 just like mine) works fine. Any idea why this is?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

I had a cable/phone combo that for some reason I had to push really hard to get it to seat all the way into the aux port. That cable seated fine in everything else and that phone accepted all other cables fine. Maybe that was the case with you and the cable just wasnt seated all the way in.
I'm grasping at straws though really. Doesn't make sense.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

And your aux port works everywhere but her car?

It's not too big of a deal to me, I just find it weird that we both have the exact same phone and one works but the other doesn't.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
just got a Verizon S4, anyone else using a rom on it? what's your favorite one? haven't really paid attention since I didn't think I'd be getting a new phone for a while, but my previous phone had an issue, so was able to get a new one.Comment
