I haven't even used the navigation app yet, is it just the Maps application?

Re: Official DROID Discussion Thread
No it's a GPS app that used Google Maps. Click the voice search button on the home screen and say "Navigate to 1234 street, city, state" and it will automatically map it on the GPS. You can also just say a business or place name. So I can say "navigate to home depot reading, massachusetts" and it will map the route to my local home depot.Comment

Re: Official DROID Discussion Thread
it should keep your route going as long as you hit Home to get out, instead of actually hitting menu then exit. as far as the address storage goes, at least on my g1, it keeps recent addresses stored kind of like how a computer will keep your google searches saved, where you hit the first number/letter in the name and it gives you a drop down of previous searches.
From there select Directions. And put in the address you will be using. Now save it and put it in your folder. Anytime you need to navigate to it, all you have to do is open your folder click on the address and there you have it!
I also read that there is a way you can sync your Maps app with the maps.google.com (creating a "My Map") I've tried this last night, but was so tired I got confused and stopped midway. If I find anything about it, I will post.
Also, for all you new Droid owners (congrats!) here are a couple more useful apps to DL..
Abduction - Fun pointless game that uses the Tilt feature of the Droid.
Handcent SMS - this is my default messaging service. Very useful and the UI is pretty nice. You can make it look like the iphone (bubble text) and other options you can change. The 1 feature that I fell in love with is the fact that if you go over the 160 character Verizon limit, it will automatically split your text message and send them at different times. No more having to deal with splitting them up yourself!
iMusic - Download FREE music. nough said.
LED Flashlight ($.99) it's a dollar, but worth it. It uses the camera's bright flash as your flashlight. Best flashlight app available hands down!
Screebl Lite - Keeps your phone from going to sleep while viewing a webpage or just working on your droid. I hate it when I'm looking at something and it goes blank and goes to sleep.
Also, Fishepa, and anybody else amazed at the screen.. you haven't seen anything yet. Watch a youtube video, nice right? Now hit the settings menu and "watch in High Quality"Comment

Re: Official DROID Discussion Thread
One of the people i work with has it and it's pretty neat if i must say. I just brought the Motor CLiq since i'm on the Tmobile net-work. It sounds a lot like the Droid, but i think the Droid is running Android 2.0 right which seems to be the biggest different. I prefer the Cliq's keypad though
The Cliq has MotorBlur which syncs all the social networking sites etc right into the home screen. It also syncs your contacts with those social networking devices.
The Droid does have a flash which the Cliq does not.Last edited by marshallfever; 11-21-2009, 09:03 PM.Comment

Re: Official DROID Discussion Thread
These are the ones I use on a regular basis:
My tracks - Very cool for keeping track of your walking, running, hiking and biking routes. It records your route using the GPS along with stats like average speed, distance traveled, elevation gain, etc. Then when you're done you can upload it to google and it creates a Google Doc spreadsheet that contains the stats and creates a map on Google Maps 'My Maps' that shows the route. I tried cardio trainer for this as well but it kept crashing.
SNesoid - SNES emulator
Astro - file manager
Toggle Settings - let's you turn on/off things like wifi, GPS, ringtones, etc without having to drill down into the settings. Also has a task manager that let's you end running processes.
aCar - App to keep track of maintenance info on your car. Will calculate fuel economy as well but I find it tedious to try to enter the data every time I get gas.
Shazam - Identifies songs
I have a bunch more installed but these are the most useful so far.Comment
