Just got the Incredible as well.

It's amazing. I loved my Moto Droid but it just needs more horsepower. Android truly flies with a 1ghz processor.

I just went with a stock setup and am using the Helix Launcher. I didn't wanna tinker around with Sense. I'm sure I will at some point though.

For those with the new Incredible, what is your battery life looking like? Some of the things I'm reading online have me a little worried (mine comes in on Monday).

            Re: Official DROID Discussion Thread

Quite honestly, coming from a Moto Droid to a HTC: Inc... Battery life has been pretty bad.

I'm not sure if the battery needs to be "conditioned" before you reach it's full potential, but I've already had to charge my phone twice today and I don't think I was using THAT much.

I left my place around 3:00, made a call, sent some text messages, and I was down to around 50% battery life at 7:00. These weren't long calls either, wifi was off along with bluetooth and GPS. The screen was set at 40% brightness throughout the day, but I must say I prefer the Droid's LCD display over this AMOLED display. It's borderline impossible to see the screen at a low brightness level when you are out in the sun. I cranked mine up to 100% for a few seconds so I could do some texting.

I'm not too worried about it though. I plan on picking up a slim extended battery from Seidio within a couple days. Even if it gives me a few extra hours, that'll be enough for me to make it through the day.

With that being said, I wouldn't advise you to stay away from the phone. The 1ghz processor makes Android a really great experience. And Seidio will provide battery alternatives. It does suck that we have to pay 50 to 70 bucks for a replacement battery that probably should have been shipped with the phone, but what can ya do?

            Edit for clarification:

When I was describing my experience with the device from 3 to 7 today, that was after the second charge. The first charge today didn't last long just because I was playing with the phone ALOT and didn't expect the phone last throughout the day with that kind of use.

It's not a bad phone at all, but if you have a Nexus One why be jealous about it? Because it's a different color? Ok. Same ****ty battery life as the Nexus One, same processor... I've got the Nexus, my roomate has the Incredible...no major differences.

I wont speak on behalf of reception issues because I dont have any.

I don't think their are any major differences between the Inc and the N1. The camera and Sense UI are pretty much it. Along with an optical trackpad, but with the bodyglove case on my phone, it makes it nearly impossible to use it.

Do you have a program called "advanced task killer" ?? I set that up and it helps with the battery life. You can even have it set up to auto kill tasks in the background. After I installed this, it pulls up a list of everything open. I was pretty surprised how many things were open.

Over on modaco and a couple other Android forums they say that task killers kill the battery. I stopped using ATK on Tuesday or so and my battery life has increased. It's weird.

So do you just leave your different apps open all the time?

On my Droid, I always use ATK close everything out when I'm done and sometimes if I have a lot of apps running I'll kill a few to improve performance. (though it sounds like performance isn't an issue with the 1Ghz processor in the N1/HTC Inc)

That is strange. Will have to try that.

I got one at Verizon when I got the phone. It is the same color as the mesh at the top of the phone (where you listen) and the red ring around the camera lens. It looks pretty good.

yep, that is the spelling. It is on the Market for free. Also download "Tone Picker" which is free too. This allows you to select your ring tone off the memory card. Just go to where you normally select your ringtone and when you click on it, press "Tone Picker"
