its great, much better than my Droid 4 ... its too bad that is came with the update on it as the bootloader is still locked, but at least you can root it and the stock rom is actually pretty good

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

Getting a new phone for the wife soon, probably either HTC One or Galaxy S4 on Verizon....

When are the next "latest/greatest" phones coming? Do HTC or Samsung have anything soon?

We don't want to get her something and then have something better come out a month later. I know you can't always chase the latest, but just want to make sure we don't purchase too late.

Any advice/comments? I've been out of the loop a bit on phones since we haven't needed one for a while.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Just got the One. Pretty bad ***.

Not sure what to do first, lol. Can you only have like 4 pages of apps on your main screen?Comment

I can't remember what stock sense is like. You should be able to add/subtract home screens. You might have to get an alternative launcher like Nova.

We have to give up unlimited data when upgrading now, right?

I knew it was coming, now just have to figure out a good plan and make her use Wifi when home lol.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

If you use your upgrade, then yes. If you purchase the phone outright (which you can have Verizon bill your account over 12 months for if you wish) then you don't lose your unlimited data.

Not sure it's worth paying full price, I'll have to see....She uses below 4GB a month, I'm below 2 (closer to 1) cause I use WIFI more at home and work.

Thanks, I'll look at plans and analyze.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

you can get some apps that will automatically turn on wifi and connect based on GPS and other rules ... Tasker is a paid app and there are some others that are freeComment

I use Smart wifi toggler or something that's not GPS but cell tower based...works fairly well.

She kills time waiting for court and other work stuff. Otherwise I agree, and I may try getting her to use Wifi more with one of the apps.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I have $200 in Best Buy gift cards and need a smartphone. Never had one, kinda late to the party. Anyone have any suggestions? Gonna use it for Fantasy Football, web browsing and Pandora mainly. Would like to keep it under $200 if possible. Thanks.Proud supporter of the...

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

Last month I used 46 GB of data. I use my WiFi at home, but I also use my phone for hotspot at work, and watch my SlingBox while out, and stream Spotify in my car.

Needless to say, I'm not giving up my unlimited data until they force my hand.

Do you do illegal hotspot? I know if I tried to add hotspot via Verizon they'd make me change my plan. I thought Verizon shut down the hotspot apps...Last month I used 46 GB of data. Just interested...don't want to give up unlimited if it's definitely worthwhile. I could see her tethering her iPad to the phone while at work, so that'd up her data more.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I think there are deals on the Galaxy Note II (if you want a big screen and lots of features) otherwise the Galaxy S3 (99 I think) is a great phone and the GS4 is also good (199)

The HTC One (199) is the other phone I would suggest.
these are the ones I have had first hand experience with so that is the end of my suggestions.Comment
