I really don't like the S5. The Note is a much nicer phone. Build quality is much better. Better hardware. Go Note or go with the M8.

Can you give more details? I've also got a Tab 3 and it just feels like a really big S4. What are the differences between the S5 and Note that make you say that?

Yeah it's upgrade time for me too (from a Galaxy s3) and I'm mulling over the S5 or the Note 4. I'm not going to use the stylus features so the screen size is really the only factor - whether or not I want a bigger one.

I know they're basically the exact same tech.

I would probably wait if you are going from the S4 to S5. Now if it is going to be 1 year, then upgrade though.

Note 4 is at the top of the food chain. I tried to hate it and planned to return it for the Nexus 6 and couldnt. Its that good.

Anyone ran into your phone not charging? I thought maybe lint/dirt build up, but nope.

It's not my USB cord or either battery because they charge fine.

It has to be the charging port on the phone.

Weird thing about that, I rarely charge my phone. I just swap batteries out.

Thanks. I actually misspoke, I'm still on an S3. So it'd be a jump to an S5 or Note 4.

I have been leaning toward the S5 because I don't need the bigger screen, but I'm not against it if there are other reasons to go up to the Note.

Still nothing new on the S6 so I don't think it makes sense to wait on that.

UPDATE: I got an email from Best Buy on the pre-BF deals so I went ahead and got an S5 for $1. Figured that was a decent way to make the decision.

You already decided but I'll answer for anyone else. It's hard to explain. The two are similar, for sure. The Note 4 just feels like a much better device. Could be the build quality.

I rarely use the pen but the tech driving it really is good. Samsung's software overall is just mediocre compared to Apple or Google. Either way, if you liked the S3 then I'm sure you'll like the S5. They are all very similar but the performance is much better.

Thanks. I may go to the store and take a look at the Note anyway (but it probably will take a lot for me to pay a few hundred $ instead of just 1).

I'm not sure what you mean about Samsung's software being inferior... the Note is Samsung also.

I love it as well and have been using it for a long time, but it still does some agitating **** from time to time.

I use swift key because the default swipe that is on my phone is **** in comparison to swift key.

I type way faster and predict text is amazing, especially when I use two different languages. When I want to swype it's very accurate, I make less mistakes when i type normally.

I hate when I have to use apples or Samsungs default keyboard, drives me crazy. I'll download SwiftKey for them so they know theres a better world.
