I've been playing around with my new S5 and there's one thing I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. The connection for the charger has a piece just like the S3 and many other devices, and another smaller piece right next to it.

Does this mean that chargers for other devices will work? If so, what's the difference?

It's a USB 3.0 connector...it will accept both the charger that came with the phone and the old USB micro cables and chargers on the one side of the hole. However, I am unsure if you will have the same charging speed if you use the USB micro chargers as you do with the charger that came with the phone. This goes for data transfer as well...USB 3.0 cable vs. USB 2.0 and lower.

I believe just installing Nova launcher will overwrite almost all of touch wiz

Sounds like I need to do this. It's annoying that I can't even start typing a new text while another one is sending or else it doubles every word.

Definitely do it. Nova + SwiftKey makes it a damn near flawless experience.

The only times I ever get a hint of lag are the second or so it takes to show the app windows when I hit the Recent Apps button, and the few seconds it takes to go from the Camera app to the photos app after taking a picture.

Nova and Swiftkey are great. What settings for Nova do you guys recommend?

Also, is there not an app that allows you to download YouTube videos? I used to download them on my iphone with this app and it would convert them to audio files so I could listen to items while at work. All the apps I have tried are no good.

I have SwiftKey and Nova on my Note 3, and outside of some menu looks, I have it almost to a stock Android look.

Can someone help explain to me what TouchWiz is compared to, say, Sense? I have an HTC phone and a Samsung tablet and while the menus are a bit different, I can't really see anything else that differs to a degree which would demand such scorn for it?

The notification bar remains untouched. Hate the color, hate that it continuously shows me the wifi ssid I am connected to... little things that add up.

You can also install the Google Now Launcher instead of Nova and that's free.

Galaxy S5 it is, I took advantage of a $200 discount off the phone (over the course of an Easy Pay agreement) on Black Friday. For that much of a price difference I'll make do with the smaller screen (compared to the Note 4).

Phone should arrive this week and then I'll have to figure out what to do with my old S3. Sprint's offering $35 credit, am I going to do much better than that?

Performance is the biggest thing. Things that fly on an HTC Sense based phone or Google stock phone have slight delays on TW. Launching apps, task managers...

Trust me - it's not the end of the world but let's not all pretend like it doesn't exist. I would love Samsung's multi-windowed features (minus the slow bloat of it) and S Pen features with HTC Sense. Once things are going in an app, I get the feeling the Note is the best performing phone out there because of raw power... Again, just being held back by TouchWiz. Would to see a simple skin like Sense on this device.

Oh and the Galaxy speakers are dreadful. Tough going back to a tiny little speaker after being spoiled by HTC's. Love putting the phone down on its back and having a video's audio completely muffled.

Hoping we will get it "quickly" but I guess it happens when it happens. With all the bugs Nexus owners have seen, I can wait until they sort the issues out.

Deff play around with the gestures area . I have a swipe up to bring it my app drawer instead of the button. It's pretty cool

I believe YouTube is coming out with a HD audio version of the app that just has music but I could be wrong

I found some apps that I have to sideload, but I am iffy on doing it or not. I don't know much about sideloading and I don't want to download something I shouldn't.

I mostly download old Howard Stern or Opie and Anthony clips to listen to at work, no really any music.

My battery life has been kind of crappy compared to others and I'm not sure what's causing it.

This was yesterday at about 4:00 I did notice yahoo sports widgets were on to refresh ever 5 minutes, which I disabled. Not sure what else.

Looking at some download app (I think it was "downloader") I think I read that youtube no longer allows you to download from there for some reason. I didn't pay much attention and may have misunderstood bc I never download anything from youtube, but that may be it.

Since it was brought up, Google Now or Nova? I'm guessing most will say Nova but I'm curious as to why... and get more info on Google Now.
