Looking for a new TV, suggestions?

Im in the market for a new television and was wondering what you most of you play on for the show. I currently have a 20" square RCA TV ha so Im due for a new one. I definitely want a widescreen LCD and my budget is under $500. I was looking at VIZIO or Westinghouse.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just make sure you get something with a 120 Hz refresh rate or higher. TV's two years ago were 60 Hz, and they're selling those off now for cheap. But the higher refresh rate contributes to a huge upgrade in picture quality.

You'll get a lot more feedback in the E&T forum, let me move this over there for you.

I play on a 26" Sanyo 720P LCD. I paid like $300 for it. Everything looks awesome to me. Of course, I was playing on a 27" 1999 RCA tv so it would!

Seriously though for the money it isn't a bad upgrade. I also got the 31.5" version in my den and they sell for under $400 if I'm not mistaken.

since im new to the LCD TVs can anyone briefly tell me the difference between 720p and 1080p? and how much better one is over the other? Is it worth paying $100+ more for 1080p?

Unless its 40+ inches or above most people say you cant discern the difference between them (720p and 1080p).

On Black Friday there will be a ton of 32-37 inch tv's for $500 or less. If you can go slightly higher than that you can get 40-42 inches *$550-570 range*

go to www.bfads.net and type in tv

Right now, you can get a Panasonic Viera 32 inch tv for $369.99 + free shipping http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIER...8583682&sr=8-2

Don't have to fight the crowds.

I would stay far away from the Westinghouse...especially when you can get a better brand for the same or lower price.

Check out random places like Big Lots and stores you normally wouldn't associate with TVs.

My friend just got a 42" Zenith 720p for $499 at sears.

Check out amazon. Free shipping, NO tax

Dell was selling a 42" Panasonic Plasma last week for $499.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it at that price point within the next couple of weeks at other places.

I say NO, 720p is just fine and will continue to be, I have a 1080p set and paid a lot for it when I bought it, and this was for a rear projection set, I myself maybe in the market for another set too. If I do get another set and me owing a PS3, I will still buy a 720p set, 1080p is is just so overrated.

Yup, now it's still at a discount for like $664, If I buy another set, it most likely will be a Plasma. IMO option they give a better picture over LCD's. You can also grab them a bit on the cheaper side right now.

A 720p Panasonic Plasma is going to look better than most 1080p LCDs. Plasmas have much more realistic colors due to having a higher contrast and deeper blacks. Also they have no motion blur (600 Hz) vs. the best LCDs at 120-240 Hz.

Unless you have a super bright room or plan on doing some intense gaming from day 1, I'd recommend a plasma.

Im trying to decide on whether I want a 42 or 50 inch plasma for my bedroom.

Vizio's or Insignia's are good options for a smaller budget TV.
