True. LCDs are less power-hungry though. Might save you 1-2 dollars per month depending on the size and usage.Comment

Re: Looking for a new TV, suggestions?
Few Suggestions:
If you don't want to brave the crowds. Best Buy has a 40 inch 1080p LCD with 3 HDMI for $500 on sale now. It's their exclusive brand Dynex (made by LG if i'm not mistaken).
Black Friday at Best Buy
Samsung 40" 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV for $598
Sony 40" 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV (KDL405504) for $663
Sears Black Friday
Samsung 40" Class 1080p LCD HDTV $600
Walmart Black Friday
RCA 46" LCD 1080p HDTV (Online Only) $688
Samsung 40" LCD 1080p HDTV (LN40B500) $599
Sony Bravia 40" LCD 1080p HDTV $599
To see the actual ads go to www.bfads.net and do a search for tvs. Keep in mind most of these LCDs are 60 Hz which may have some motion blur when it comes to fast moving scenes.Comment

Re: Looking for a new TV, suggestions?
I'd go for a cheap plasma. I just love the colors in a plasma tv compared to a lcd. And if you're going to get a cheaper tv, then a 720p plasma would be perfect for you as they're very nicely priced nowadays. Just make sure that you don't have any chandeliers hanging around the tv if you do get a plasma, b/c they reflect a lot of light with their glossy screen. My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

It's more than that once you hit over a grand on a TV......more around $250-$300+ on warranties for 3-4 years.Comment

Re: Looking for a new TV, suggestions?
I was thinking maybe this set, the price seems great. $700 off, most stores are still charging full price for this set.

Re: Looking for a new TV, suggestions?
If your budget can stretch to about $550, you can get a 42-inch Panasonic Viera plasma for that price. Plasma has darker blacks and much more vivid colors.
Plus if you watch sports, plasma is a MUCH better option than LCD. Plasmas come standard with a 600 Hz refresh rate. That's 10 times that of a cheap LCD and five times that of a 120 Hz LCD. You get pretty bad motion blur with a 60 Hz LCD when watching fast-motion sports. You get none of that with a plasma.
Take care,

I LOVE both my Vizios, and my gf has one as well. As good of a TV as you can get if you ask me, especially for the money.Comment
