Just your typical buyers remorse. When I dropped got my TV, I had absolutely none of that, the ship day couldn't get here fast enough. Not sure why I had it this time, but I did.

If possible the ideal setup is to run everything through the receiver and then the receiver over to the TV. This make switching inputs easier and allows your receiver to process all of the signals which it will probably do a better job than the TV will. Of course if you have input limitations then you will have to do it how you have to do it.

The only issue I've heard about is that the pass through is video only, so I'd have to run cables from the sat box, 360, and ps3 for audio, and i guess there aren't enough imputs for them. I've never had a surround sound system, so I'm not sure exactly the best strategy to use to connect it all.

For video: Run the HDMI (up to 3) into the receiver and run 1 to your HDTV.

For digital audio: You have 3 connections (2 optical and 1 digital coax) the 2 optical are not a problem--PS3, 360 and sat box should have that. I checked the 360 and PS3 and neither has a digital coax. Does your sat box have digital coax? If so, then you just need a digital coax cable and you're set.

at work so not exactly positive, but it's a newer direct tv hd box, so i'd image so.

Gotcha. Did your sat box have a digital coax input (should be an orange color) ?

                      I didn't look but I'm sure it does. It's the Direct TV HD-DVR - HR22-100.

So I will need an HDMI cable to run from the reciever to the TV, an optical cable to run from the 360 to the reciever, an optical cable to run from the PS3 to the reciever, and a coaxial cable to run from the sat box to the reciever, correct?

A digital coax, yes. And yes to everything else.

you said you will need a coax cable to go from the sat box to the receiver and GAMEC0CK corrected you and said digital coax cable, you are aware that he meant digital coax for sound right? you will still need a way to pass video. why not go with an HDMI from sat box to your receiver? or if your receiver doesn't do HDMI then you could do digital coax for the sound and run the sat box to your receiver via component (or run the sat box out to your tv directly).

i just wanted to make sure you weren't confused by that coax part. i know when i wasn't very familiar with the receivers and someone said coax i thought they just meant like, tv cable, and that's not the case at all. in fact coax for audio looks pretty much like rca-type cables.
