Vizio's higher end models compete with the big boys--Sony, Samsung, Panasonic. It's just that they also have entry level models that most people get and some aren't happy with.

And just for clarification, the absolute best plasmas are Pioneer Kuros. You'll pay a lot but you'll get the best HDTV money can buy.

Then it's Panasonic, Samsung (not their 09 line--had buzzing issues) and LG (love the added features, IMO). Don't know much about Vizio's plasmas though they did make a 32" plasma a year or two ago....don't anymore.

Vizio's 32" Plasma received poor reviews.

Vizio 32 inches in general receive poor reviews. I remember back in my days of working at Walmart in the electronics department, we use to get at least 6 out of every 10 we sold back within 2 weeks.

Granted it Walmart do carry the lesser models of tvs. Which is why I was surprised they had that 55 inch Vizio LED up in there for $2,000 and a 19 inch LED Vizio for $269.

The only decent models of tvs Walmart carry in store is the Samsung models. They have poor models for Sony, Sharp and Phillips. And I wont go near a Haier, Sansui, Emerson, Element or RCA.

Most of the tv's that were available at rock bottom prices on Black Friday were older models, derivatives, or lesser brands. Time will tell how much of a deal some of those were.

I saw one guy buy 5 Dynex 32" LCDs on black friday.

Most monitors have an HDMI Input so if wanted to add another device (Set Top Box, DVD Player) you could
That's the same thing I would do. I rather a good moniter over a budget tv..
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

Only caveat would be you're giving up the ATSC/QAM tuner so no OTA HD channels.

And monitors usually have fewer inputs.

Would be a good deal if you don't need those things.
