Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
Easily the biggest story of the day was Sony's debut of the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. And of course, not even 24 hours after its release, someone spotted a hidden viral message pointing to another viral website viral thing... that's viral.
Collider was the first to notice this image:
The words "Mark of the Spider-Man," embedded in the graphic, directed them to MarkoftheSpider-Man.com, which brings up a plain, grey webpage featuring six static-filled boxes and the Spider-Man logo at the bottom. As far as we can tell, none of these boxes nor the logo are clickable. However, if you happen to have a keen spider-sense or, likewise, a mountain of time on your hands, this may be the answer to your mesmerizing boredom.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
Well, one thing with this reboot is it's the Amazing Spiderman story and not just Spiderman.
I've also read some rumors of a second villian, playing a much more background roll in the movie. I thought I saw Oscorp in the trailer as well, meaning Goblin will at least be teased.
The movie reminds me a lot of the first Batman reboot, using Scarecrow as the main villian and rebuilding the story.Comment

I love the fact they are rebooting it. The problem with the previous movies is that Sam Raimi was never right for the project. He is a comic fan and for that I respect him for the first 2 movies. The biggest reason why 3 was so bad was because the fans and sony wanted a Venom movie but Raimi didn't like Venom, he wanted to do a Sandman movie but Sony forced their hand with the creative license for Venom and I hate to say he did it on propose because I like him but the way it was thrown together there were too many plot points and characters flying around to make any of them solid and I think it could have been done much better, Raimi is no fool.
Throw on top that the characters were poorly written (I mean come on I thought that Topher Grace just sucked as an actor and then I saw Predators) I also think that Tobey and Kristin were just done. The only performance that even held any weight to it was James Franco because it was the Green Goblin/Spidey plot point carried over from the previous movies.
All that being said, I don't think that an origin story is necessary but I do think a reboot is a great idea in the right hands. Look at what the Batman reboot did with Nolan and I thought X-men First Class was a great change up even though it wasn't a complete reboot.
I'll reserve judgement till the movie comes out and I can see it for myself but I think it can potentially be a start to a good series.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
I know people are so against the re-told origin story but my thoughts on that are that it's not that bad to go back over it. This is a high school Peter Parker, which we got to see for, what, half an hour in the first movie? Add to the fact they're starting things off properly with Gwen Stacy as the love interest and not Mary Jane, and Peter's actual parents play some sort of role in this re-telling, and I'm alright with them starting from the ground up. There is enough here that it'll differentiate itself from the original movie IMO.
Also, I just feel it would be weird to be starting from scratch and not show what makes Peter Parker Spider-Man.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Looks good. I think the antagonist will be the big note here, though. Alfred Molina's portrayal of Otto Octavius just couldn't have been better. SM2 was almost a perfect Spider-Man film. I think this one will be leaps better than 1 or 3, though (didn't really hold a soft spot for 1 ever).

I think he will.
If you notice in the trailer and some of the pictures that have been released,Spoilerthere's a scene where Gwen Stacy is in the rain with an umbrella and black coat. It has the feel of a funeral scene, so I think that could be Uncle Ben's funeral.Last edited by BlueNGold; 02-09-2012, 12:10 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Nothing major here, but this is a pretty cool way of promoting the movie:
