Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand?
Caught part of it and looked pretty cheezy. They had the whole 300 thing going with the slow motion fighting effects where it looked like a Mortal Kombat game during fight sequences. So it's lacking originality there. On the whole there was way too much CGI, and not very convincing CGI, which made it hard to take it seriously because it just looked too cartooney. -

I believe IGN even said that the effects get tired after a while.
I'm still going to try and find a copy of the first episode. I loved Gladiator so I was hoping this would be good.Comment

I think it's safe to say if you liked Gladiator or Rome and was hoping it would be in that vein (like I had hoped) you're gonna be sorely disappointed.Comment

Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand?
I don't know if anybody used to watch that kids show Wishbone back in the day but it reminded me of one of those reenactments hahaha (basically like a history channel reenactment). I was really disappointed. The slow motion effect gets old faster than Benjamin Button. The green screen backgrounds look terrible and the blood is like someone is squirting ketchup everywhere. I just didn't like it at all basically.Comment

The only thing I'm looking forward to now is to be sorely disappointed at Lucy Lawless's nude scene.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand?
I wasn't too crazy about the first episode, but the second one (altready out there on the net) was better and gave me enough hope to keep watching. The series definitely tries really hard to emulate "300".
Oh, and Lucy Lawless' scene in the second episode wasn't too shabby!"And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

I'll download it tonight and watch both back-to-back to see if it's going to get better.Comment

Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand?
Anybody still watching? Each episode seems to be better than the last. I was also very disappointed in the first episode but figured I'd stick with it, and I'm glad I did. Once they got away from having blood fly all over the screen every 5 minutes, things picked up. It's still no Rome, and I didn't expect it to be. But it's worth watching once a week.Comment

I'm still watching it...I agree that it has gotten a lot better since the premier episode."And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment
