I'm kind of the opposite. Movie with serial killers or really anything to do with evil people don't freak me out at all. It's movies that deal with the Parnormal that get me. I've got a chance against another person but when I see a movie with ghosts or demons I get spooked because I think How the hell do you fight that...you just gotta take it. That's why I probably won't be seeing Paranormal Activity.

The Exorcist - The original and still the best movie ever made to strike fear into you. The fact that there are many stories of REAL paranormal things happening on the movie set from those involved really make you view it in an even more terrifying light.

Exorcism of Emily Rose - Very well done movie, I watched this after studying exorcisms for a few months. If you REALLY want to be scared hit up youtube and listen to some of the real tapes of Emily Rose - they are bone chilling. I don't see how you can listen to those tapes and dismiss possession as a mental thing.

Paranormal Activity - I have had paranormal experiences before so this instilled a fear unlike any other movie has i've ever seen (and many nightmares too)

The Strangers - I have a strong fear (and recurring nightmares) of this happening to me so it really hit home

Haha, when I was little my aunt and grandmother took my and my brother to the drive-in movies to watch Gremlins. We really enjoyed it up until when they actually started their transformations. Then when the gremlins attacked the main character's mom in the kitchen scene, we got all freaked out, started crying and begged them to take us home. I guess you could say we were being little ****ies.

That movie just angered me more than anything.

On topic. The only movie i ever had any type of fear or anything was Event Horizon just because when and where i was watching it at the time.

I think there is a difference between scaring and actually make you afraid. Scaring is basically like doing something suddenly to make a viewer jump and be scared for a couple seconds. A movie making you afraid tends to be those that make you uncomfortable, twisting your brain into a paranoid, psychotic state, and generally unnerved by what is happening and could potentially happen.

What that said, these movies unnerve me and freak me the **** out whenever I watch them:

              The Shining
              Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
              House of 1000 Corpses
              Rear Window
              The Omen (original)
              Night of the Living Dead

FT - i agree, scaring folks is easy, making them afraid is what very few movies can do. it's unfortunate that most movies in horror go for the scare than the psychological fear IMO.

                  The Ring

That's really it. Paranormal Activity sucked.

Paranormal Activity scared the crap out of me. I'm not a big fan of scary movies though.

Funny some mention it or "The Ring".

I S you not. I had just finished watching the movie and my daughter, who has long black hair came walking down the stairs w/ her hair in front of her face and it scared the BEJEEZUS out of me, but I didn't want her to see that I was scared, being the "Man of the House" and everything, but I'm telling you, I almost dropped a duece that night, right in front of her. She just happened to wake up that night, REAL late, because of a nightmare of all things. It was so f'ing unbelievable. I maybe slept 2 hours that night. Still gives me the shivers just typing it, LOL. I mean, it was just WTF! ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!

                      My god. LOL.
When my brother watched The Ring, at the end of the movie when it shows you the video, the instant it went off their phone rang.
