Yeah, I used that one before, check out the new one, it's awesome. Can even send messages to XBL friends, etc. Great app, and the maker keeps updating things to make it faster (boots up slow).

Another month, another new phone trying to be an iPhone killer.

while people like making that argument, the whole smart phone market is growing from the variety of products, instead of anyone really taking much away from RIM and Apple. There's plenty of credible alternatives filling niches for people.

Android 2.1 and webOS are iphone killers in terms of virtually surpassing everything the iphone can do. The real problem is that Palm is too small to get major developer support. Android doesn't have a single marketing voice with all the different flavors of the OS.

If people think Microsoft getting serious about a smart phone platform is the same as the "iphone killer" threats from Android or Palm, they're kind of fooling themselves.

The new windows smartphone OS looks great. However, it is about two years too late. Are you kidding me? Holiday 2010??? By the time it comes out, most people will be satisfied with their iphone, android 2.x device, web os phone or blackberry. It's gonna be an uphill climb to regain smartphone market share.

As for MS fighting for market share, I just think it'll be easier than Palm or Android. They'll likely cut in line just for their presence and ability to offer a well funded clear voice in the market. If people are satisfied with their iphone, blackberry, or android phone, great. There's a reason why every shiny new phone gets hyped up though, as contracts run out all the time. People are often always looking at the alternatives.

Exactly, the screen resolution of the Nexus Once is twice that of an Iphone.

I like that its butter-smooth but I don't like the menu layouts. It looks like one big word jumble or puzzle, I don't know.

Xbox LIVE coming to Windows Phones 7 series

Earlier today at Mobile World Congress, Steve Ballmer announced that when Windows Phone 7 series ships later this year, it will come with Xbox LIVE support. Specifically, the Windows Phone 7 Games hub will allow you to:

* Collect Achievements and build your Gamerscore
* View Xbox LIVE leaderboards
* See your Xbox LIVE Avatar
* Access Spotlight feeds, including the latest tips and tricks, game news, updates and more
* Add Xbox LIVE friends to your friends list while out on the go
* Turn-based (asynchronous) multiplayer gaming

I’ll have more details of this over the next few months and I’ll get some folks on from the mobile team to come on my show to answer some of your questions.

Everyone else has pretty much hit it on the head. All these phones are so fragmented that it's hurting itself more then helping it.

I wish Google was in charge of updating all Android devices up to whatever the current OS standard is. Get rid of all these skins like MotoBlur and HTC Sense UI. They are cool features but they are killing the progress made in updating those OS's.

From what I've read Microsoft will be implementing certain minimum specs required for phone manufacturers to run WinMo 7. Hopefully that means Windows will also be in charge of rolling out OS updates to all phones simultaneously without having a OS platform that some phones can run some apps on and other phones being left out in the cold.

^That is why I'm frustrated with Android at the moment. I have a mytouch3G and I am pissed that certain phones can get the updates, while others can't. Why should I have to spend $530 on a nexus one to get the 2.1 update? Granted it's a nice phone, but it shouldn't take all of that.

As far as the 7 series goes, I think that there is a lot of potential with it. I'm glad they decided to make every device a Zune, so to speak. Deeper integration is what people are looking for. The UI itself looks a little confusing, but I'm sure once people to get a chance to play with it some, it will be better.

A lot more info has come out today regarding this OS. Looks REALLY awesome. They just showed off a Netflix app that allows you to stream any movie in your instant queue on the phone.

Yeah but it's still just an app. Netflix has been considering putting something like that in the App store and App Marketplace for a while.

Is it exclusive?

I really like the Push Notifications thing though. It's a must after having my iPhone.
