Started watching Seaon 1 on Blu Ray on Friday night. Man this show is amazing.

Its strange I have had the Blu-Rays since March 6th, yet I haven't even taken the plastic off. Me thinks I should change that given that we are what 12 days away from the premier of season 2?

I've slowly been converting my wife into a fan. We just finished episode 6 yesterday and I think she's hooked. That's the episode where things really begin to ramp up in a big way. I'm pretty sure by the end she'll be just as excited for season two as am I and I might just be able to get her to read the books. Would love to get her off of those romance novels or at least diversify her reading.

I think it's safe to say that Jon Snow is Rhaegar and Lyanna's offspring, but now, we have the cliffhanger that he might be dead and dying.

Oh and I just wanted to bring this up again.

Thinking on Jon actually being a Targaryen I am reading through the books again. I am up to the point where Jon leaves for the Wall and he's saying goodbye to Robb. Robb tells him that the next time he sees him, he'll be in black. Jon replies, "It was always my color."

I know that could just be a throw away statement, but Martin seems to put really subtle remarks in these books that really relate to other things. Reading that I instantly remembered that the Targaryen colors was a three headed red dragon on black. If he's really the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, then his colors would not be the grey on white of the Starks, they'd be the same as his father's, red on black.



Him saying "It was always my color" seems so innocent at first but the author has used little things like that as foreshadowing. I'm sure I'll find more as I go along, but it was enough to solidify that theory in my mind. All that's left is for Martin to go ahead and make it official.

This is also the way that he will be able to leave the Night's Watch. The vows can only be undone by death ( Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death.), so you have to figure this will count.

As for who Melisandre, they're looking for royal blood to awaken a dragon. How ironic would it be if the blood used is Stannis himself as the sacrifice to awaken "the dragon" Jon Snow? I have to figure in time she's got to realize that her seeing Jon in the flames whenever she asks for a vision of Azor Ahai and not Stannis means something. Then again, how plausible would that be as well considering where he is?

If Thoros of Myr, the drunken red priest with the flaming sword, can revive Beric Dondarrion multiple times, it shouldn't be too hard for Melisandre to do the same. Though I imagine she'll do it with some other misinterpreted prophecy of some kind. Or she'll nail it and say he's going to ride a dragon and drive back the Others for good.

I noticed when watching season 1 through again they had different directors for different episodes. Is that unusual in a tv series? I wonder if they are doing that for season 2 as well and does anyone know how many episodes season 2 will be?

It's pretty common in at least US shows and even sitcoms. My assumption is to keep a show fresh since there are so many dynamics. One director can specialize in the drama for example when an episode is full of dialogue and another director specializes in action or there directors that focus on certain group of characters.

I would assume also the workload that these shows have. 13 hours of show is a total of almost 6 normal movies and having 1 director doing all of them would be overload especially with a big show like Game of Thrones.

Very common, they film a lot of stuff at the same time in different locations, so they need multiple directors, not to mention it's also an absurd amount of work if you were to have one director shoot everything.
