Best character in the whole series.

Whenever I want to make fun of the book with my friends I mention him.

Longclaw would look nice next to my "Excalibur."

I'm about a fourth of the way through this and I just keep getting pulled in more and more into this world. Jon Snow and Tyrion and easily my favorite characters thus far, but I'm waiting for more Arya.

I just noticed that the show is available on HBO on Demand and I'm trying to read a little bit more before I watch the first episode.

Just watched the first episode. Pretty good though obviously very different in some instances. I was surprised at how quickly it moved and set up everything.

                  The show moves fast.

I've been rewatching the first season in prep for season two. Just watched episode 4 earlier today, which means now I get into the every episodes from here on out is solid gold section of the show. It's gotten me even more excited for season 2.

I think the shoe picks up after the "on the kingsroad" episode.

Had the whole season sitting on my DVR and decided to start watching it this weekend. Im not a big fan of medieval or fantasy genres and i was pretty bored through the 1st episode about to hit delete on the whole series then the ending of the 1st episode happened and it had me hooked and i watched the rest of the season pretty much straight through.

I feel like I need to watch the series at least twice before I judge it. The first viewing I seem to be distracted by the differences, but still I am enjoying the show. I made it through episode 4 yesterday. I'm hoping to see more of the tourney in episode 5.

I think most (not all) people are better served by watching each season of the series first, then reading the corresponding book in between seasons. Either that or read the books well in advance. I know several people who read (or re-read) the books immediately before watching the show (same w/ LOTR), and it negatively impacted their enjoyment of the show.

I think that's what I'm going to do. I watched the first season then read the first book and despite having the other books sitting there I'm going to wait until after season two to read book two. I love not know what is going to happen week to week and they already showed in season / book one that they aren't afraid to kill off main characters so that adds an element of surprise / tension to things.

I don't think I can wait for season 2 to read book two. The differences don't bother me outside of Catelyn and Dany (though she has gotten a lot better the past couple of episodes). Its fun seeing how what I imagine people and things to look like and how things happen look on the screen.

You do see more in ep 5.

I read all the books after seeing season 1, but I'm glad that was a while ago and I don't remember every little detail fo the second book, which I think will add to the enjoyedment of the show. I'm honestly probably most excited about the stuff I know is going to be different.
                                Spoiler

I envy the people that have no idea what is going to happen though, did that in season 1 and it was a crazy whirlwind. Season 2 is going to be even better than season 1 I think.
