    Re: HTC EVO 4G

Okay, that's what I was leaning towards... might just pull the trigger. It's not that expensive with the 2 year contract... if the company craps the bed, I'm sure it'll just transfer over to whoever buys their corpse. I need internet at my fingertips and GPS at times, as well as e-mail... don't want to always have to carry around my netbook to handle my biz.

I don't worry about battery life. I have a car charger and an extra usb cable at work. I'd top off my blackberry at work everyday too or it would be dead by 8pm. Last phone I've had that I didn't have to charge everyday was my Motorola Razr.

        Re: HTC EVO 4G

well my blackberry is plugged up all day at work but I never had to worry about the battery life until 1.5 years into my contract. Seems like people are having to be concerned about battery life from day one with the EVO. What's the point in having all this cool functionality if it requires you to be tethered to a power source all the time. Most people are working around the battery issue by turning off a lot of the features. again, the point of having a phone like that is "the features".

i'm not a true tech guy but I assume these battery issues come about because of the open source nature of Android. I'm not sure to what extent android developers can tune the packaged software to work with multiple hardware platforms. This is an area where the iphone will have a leg up. proprietary software + proprietary hardware = Technological Bliss

while i would love to have a more "cool" phone I first need it to be practical. I have an active lifestlye and I can't be bothered with the daily fear of forgetting to fully charge my phone. blackberry's simply work... they connect to the internet, they get me my emails, and they have BBM service. so now i'm starting to sound like an EVO basher but I'm not. I was really hoping you guys could talk me into getting the EVO. unfortunately, the more conversations I have about EVO the more I realize I want an energy efficient data machine. i guess there's always next contract.

          Re: HTC EVO 4G

Today was my first full work day with the EVO, I had four on-site visits to make at clients. I left the office at 9:45am (when I unplugged the phone from the charger) and at 4pm got a "Plug in charger now" message.

I spent a decent amount of time on the web and on the phone but still disappointing that it lasted roughly six hours. I still need to get a car charger but I may also get a spare battery to keep with me at all times.

Besides the battery - this phone is heaven.

I have yet to have a problem with my battery life. Yeah, it got to the point many days where it would say 5% battery life left but never died on me. I'm actually satisfied so far considering I don't even have the car charger.

                Re: HTC EVO 4G

yes. there is a $10 or $15 charge added to your service when you buy a 4G phone from sprint. there is no way around it. Even if you live in an area without 4G coverage you will pay extra money for the privilege of owning such a beautiful phone.

Depends on whats going on. Im sure it consumes more power than a normal phone but blackberry's drain too if they're roaming/searching for network signals for a few hours or if you're taking a bunch of pics with the flash on, so it just depends on whats running.

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy apps using your credit card instead of them charging it to your phone bill?

I've spent about a dozen hours toying with apps, themes, launchers, etc and customizing my Droid, trying to find the fit I like the most. It's a bit of a daunting process because there's so much you can do with the phone but man it's awesome when you get everything you want in there. This phone is unreal, I'm in love with this damn thing.
