I'ts more than popcorn action, and it has nothing to do with the video games, it's using the characters and a bit of a name branding of Umbrella and so on. But the stories are different. Waaaaay different. Just like in this trailer you see the clones, and even Wesker in Alaska, etc. Something that wasn't in any video game.
I agree. One could probably watch them out of order and enjoy them. However, if you want to know the full story and why certain things are the way they are then you need to see all of them.

I'm a fan and I thought each of the movies were Ok but, nothing spectacular. I would say the last one was the best, closely followed by the first one with the second one bringing up the rear.

The 3rd one lost me as a fan with that stupid fire + crows scene. One of the worst scenes I've seen in any recent movie and completely turned me off to the rest of it.

I don't get what was so bad about that scene, it just showed off one of her abilities. And it wanted to give the watchers a visual pop. Nothing that Hollywood hasn't been doing for years, they always got to have some kind of visual, matrix like camera pan, that is irrelevant to anything in the story...

lol....That scene did not ruin an entire movie

It may not have ruined it for you, but it did for me. The whole...Alice character, in general, has ruined the Resident Evil movies for me, and that scene was just a three-movie culmination of ridiculousness.

            I liked the first 2
Wasn't a big fan of the 3rd one

Saw the midnight of this one last night, and it's much better than the 3rd one. I still think the 1st one was the best, but I really enjoyed this one.

              Not bad..Not bad at all....

              I give it 3.5 of 5 with the first being a 2.5 and the 2nd and 3rd geting a 1* lol

Could care less about the 3d but it was a nice touch, didnt make or break the movie

The middle half of the movie was the best..Very video game resident evil...But it seem liked they contradicted themself on some things, I dont want to spoil but it SEEMed like they wanted to get away with the whole abilities thing...

It also seem liked they rushed the ending...

I didnt care to even see this movie (not even DVD) but it was def better than I expected....(a female friend wanted to see this btw)

                Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife

Only 2.5 for the original? I thought it was one of the best zombie movies in at least recent memory. I know a lot of people complained about it have pretty much nothing to do with the games, but as a movie I thought it was great.

Second was was fun to watch. Lots of action which was cool. I'm sure some people like that it was a bit more game related than the original.

Third one was ok at best. Worth watching because of the action, but a few things were kind of weak.

                4th one
Not giving away much, but spoiler anyway

I think I may see this movie tonight. I liked the other 2 movies so I'll be seeing this one as well. Never been into the RE video games though.

I really enjoyed the first three and need to find time between work and school to see this one.
