Yeah, I'd say at least give Rise Against a shot. Most of their riffs and beats are "punk"-ish, but their singer certainly isn't "punk" and the sound--once you combine voice, guitars, drums, etc--in general is more rock than punk.

I like to get pumped up to Rise Against. Good stuff.

Airbourne for sure. They've drawn plenty of valid comparisons to AC/DC + they had Lemmy in one of their videos and you know Lemmy doesn't get involved unless it kicks ***.

Wolfmother is alright. They've drawn non-valid comparisons to Led Zeppelin. You've probably heard Woman or The Joker & The Thief already as combined they've been used in 2947 different things.

Rev Theory is ok,they've had songs in Madden so you've probably heard them already.

As recently mentioned The Sword. Their songs are really fun in GH. Even better if you have any intrest at all in Norse Mythology.

Then there's the 3 from Finland,H.I.M.,The Rasmus and Nightwish. Though genre wise those 3 are really all over the place from hard rock to goth to 8 different kinds of metal. Nightwish has been around long enough to change singers so not exactly up and coming but they do have amazing videos.

I want metal, that sounds like Metallica, that doesn't involve screaming or growling.

That's where Alter Bridge fits in nicely.

I've seen Airbourne live (although they were only opening for Motley Crue), but now I'd love to see them as the headliner for sure.
