I think Marvel always had some trouble incorporating Thor into the mix.... he was just not like the others. Marvel's heroes generally have a "scientific" connection to origins, while Thor is of course that mythological angle .... somewhat like Superman, though a lot more DC heroes. This is why I never liked Marvel embracing the horror heroes angles either: Frankenstein Monster, Blade, Man-Thing, Morbius, even Ghost Rider, etc.

Just saw Thor -- which showed on the 29th here in the Philippines -- and I thought it was pretty great! Better than Iron Man 2 and I'd say slightly better than Iron Man 1.

Hemsworth does a great job at being Thor. He does a pretty good job portraying the different facets of Thor as god of thunder, god with no powers and then being a god with more wisdom and humility.

The action sequences are way awesome. Odin defeating the Yurds/Yords(?) with all the might of Asgard behind him makes me feel hopeful for something more akin to LoTR in the future if they want big wars to happen in the future.

The best action sequence, IMO, is when Thor, Loki, Sif & The Warriors Three go to Yodenheim and just wreak havoc. Seeing Thor kick-*** without a care in the damn realms is pure geek-satisfaction.

Unlike Iron Man 1 & 2, we actually get a good fight between hero and villain, though I wouldn't call Loki a full-fledged villain just yet in this movie.

The only thing I don't like is the romance/love angle, if you can even call it that. I find it hard to believe that Jane and Thor would be so emotionally connected after what seems like a few days and one fireplace date. It felt like it was put there just for the sake of putting it there.

I was fortunate enough to see a media preview today as well. The movie was outstanding. Hemsworth is Thor. And I thought is was better than both IRonman movies, which I loved.

I think fans will be satisfied. My 7 year old son loved it!

Awesome movie. Hemmsworth was great as Thor, definitely surprised me in how much I liked him in that role. Everything about Asgard looks great and I liked the amount of time they spent there in the movie, definitely something that other movies should follow instead of having everything on Earth like in Transformers.

As is usual with Marvel movies, stay after the credits. Half my theater stayed so it looks like most people have caught on with staying after the credits.

I thought it was great. The story was pretty much by the numbers, but the characters/actors, IMO, were outstanding, and thats what sold it for me.
