Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
Loved the first movie.
I hope/wish this is the reboot, as it looks incredible. If it's the game, then I also have high hopes.Comment

Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
This looks amazing!!!! Cannot wait. like everyone else, I loved the first one, 2nd one.. ehhh.. but this one looks cool.
Just how they explained the situations of Reptile and Baraka gave me chills!!
And from the screenshot of Sub-Zero.. I was trying to figure out how they'd be able to give him his freezing powers.. But it looks like he's in a Cryogenic Chamber suit...Comment

Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
I would definitely like to see a movie version of it, if it truly exists. Its strange seeing it go the real route vs the high fantasy. Even if its for the game, can't wait to see how they do itComment

Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
[UPDATE] Jeri Ryan sheds light on live-action YouTube clip giving a glimpse at upcoming project in violent fighting franchise, says it's not for a game.
Gamespot doesn't know whether it's a game or a movie, but says it could be both...
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was a commercial hit, but some fans of the Midway fighting franchise balked at the less-than-ultraviolent level of violence in the crossover. That likely won't be a concern with the next big Mortal Kombat project, no matter what form it takes.
...
The clip doesn't specify whether it's promoting the next Mortal Kombat game or another film, but the brand is in for a reboot in both media. Creator Ed Boon has said he's working on taking Mortal Kombat 9 back to the series' hyper-violent roots, while reports surfaced earlier this year that Warner Bros. had secured a screenwriter for the next film based on the franchiseOriginally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
All the people over at Rivals are all talking about how good it looks and everything. I Laugh, it looks terrible.
And it is a movie. Coming out in 2013.
Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan's IMDb profiles don't currently mention anything about a new Mortal Kombat movie, but a new video clip clearly intended to introduce a Mortal Kombat movie employed two actors who bear striking resemblances to Black Dynamite and Seven of Nine. The new take on MK doesn't have any credits attached, nor does it look like Paul W.S. Anderson's "Mortal Kombat." It does, however, make you wonder if there isn't going to be a big movie announcement coming to E3.
The demonic energies and extra-dimensional elements seem to be all sapped out of the MK short acquired by Kotaku. Instead, the new takes on the best known bloodbath in fighting games opts for a distinctly more "Saw"-ish horror approach with some high-octane one-on-one combat slipped into the plot.
Purists may disapprove of the bare-faced Scorpion and deformed human version of Reptile who appear, but conceptually this is a movie I could get behind. "Mortal Kombat" originally hooked me with its old-style kung-fu movie look stuffed with random moments of cartoonish absurdity and violent excess that snuck in over the course of its first two sequels. The subtle nods to the video games' continuity and mythos here seem to operate the same way. I love the pacing.
If this is for real, it looks like it could be the first MK movie to really understand an effective use of gore in the context of its story as well. I don't know who made it or where it ultimately came from, but I want more.Comment

Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
I think the blatant/obvious name dropping was corny, but the story seems interesting and if they can add some polish to what's on show in that clip it could be really fun!
Still, as much as I like how they've twisted the story into real people (as opposed to a fantasy universe) I don't think regular fighting would be all that entertaining without iceballs, fireballs, flying kicks etc... we'll see.Comment

Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie?
One dude has blades coming out of his hands, we saw Scorpion's weapon being used...I'm fairly sure that, while it'd be a more realistic approach to the story, you'll still see the crazy things such as Sub-Zero's iceball/freezing people, people doing crazy flying kicks, etc.
Random, but Michael Jai White is a perfect Jacks.Comment

I was just watching this, man this looks SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
For all the people asking why Johnny Cage gets killed. Its because Johnny Cage was a traitor to the frachise. Daniel Pessina the actor that portrayed the Johnny Cage character, was hyping up another fighting game called Bloodstorm:Attached FilesLast edited by noshun; 06-08-2010, 07:24 PM.NBA Live is the epitome of Cancel Culture..
