Still not out of the question, considering the rumored off contract price of the Vibrant is $330. There are FOUR reasons I'm still leaning toward keeping the MyTouch Slide:

    (1) I like the phone a lot.
    (2) I've already purchased a $25 case and a $25 car charger, but the rumored $330 off contract price would be $25 cheaper than the price I paid for the My Touch ($355)
    (3) Default Bing and Samsung Android updates.
    (4) The Slide's great physical keyboard.
i understand your "Pause". Only thing that matters is that you like your MyTouch. I wonder if the Bing could be removed by rooting (jailbreaking) it. The Android community is always working on hacks to remove stuff that you don't want. If you like it, that's all that matters. Enjoy your phone.

I'm sure if you rooted the device you could prob get rid of Bing. But honestly, I don't find rooting a device just to choose a different default search engine a logical move.

I'd rather go with something that out of the box, at least works fairly well. I think HTC is pretty good about getting updates out for their Android powered devices. They take a while, but they usually are able to hit most of their devices.

I think the My Touch Slide is a solid phone, maybe a little underpowered hardware wise considering all the other Android phones out in the marketplace now, but it's still a good phone. Plus, if it's got a solid keyboard, that's great on a Android powered phone.

I had the Cliq and loved that phone to death. However I moved back to WV and they don't have tmobile here so I ended up selling it to my cousin.

The SWYPE software has rendered my keyboard (the one that I love) almost obsolete. It's only built in ready on a few phones, predominately both CLIQs and the second MYTouch and MyTouch Slide.

The reduced need for a physical keyboard still gives me only one option and that would be the Vibrant (the Galaxy S variant). It's confirmed for a Thursday release (July 15th). If the price stays within the $330-$430 range it will be hard for me to turn down.

              EDIT:The Vibrant will have Swype.

Moot point for me right now. I lost the box the MyTouch Slide came in so they won't accept a trade in.

Yeah, I'm satisfied with what I have. The SWYPE on screen keyboard is great and I've found the physical keyboard is the better choice for web searches that use proper nouns.

Places that I couldn't get internet connections with my Blackberry (like my work bathroom) I get easily and quickly with my MyTouch.
