Re: The Walking Dead
There are moments I do wish they would bombard streets with more zombies. A scene last night seemed rather eh when they looked over and there were maybe 25 zombies on the corner. I wanted to see a hundred. But, I guess most of them were at the front of the store, so I can't really fault them for that.
Either way, really love the interaction between characters. Gotta admit that I'm not really enjoying the scenes with Rich's wife and the other survivors. I realize they'll be important in due time, but there isn't much conflict to get me excited for those scenes at this point."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Walking Dead
The racist guy initially reminded me of Francis from Left 4 Dead....right down to the haircut. As for the episode, I could see it becoming 'Lost'(with Zombies)...if both of the parties get reunited. I also want to know what's become of the father and son from ep 1.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead
It's now official.
Off a total of 4.7 million viewers (episode 1 had 5.3 million) and 3.3 million being adults 18-49, AMC has announced that a 13-episode second season has been officially ordered.
“I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming. “‘The Walking Dead’ is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more. Kudos to AMC!”

By the way a comparison that is unprecedented in television today. Shows simply do not have this small of a drop off after a premiere.

Re: The Walking Dead
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they try to make it a Halloween weekend premiere every year.
It'll suck that we'll have to wait about 10 months for it, though.
And, yes, Beantown, your 4.2 million prediction was my first thought when I read it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: The Walking Dead
Hopefully Hollywood executives take note. I mean they constantly redo the same tired shows every year and wonder why people don't watch them, then something that should have been done years ago comes out and people love it. However, I doubt it, i'm sure next year we'll see another 20 cop shows, 20 investigative shows and 20 bad reality shows instead of more "common sense" ideas like zombies. I mean seriously, it took them this long to figure out zombies would be popular in a show? The reality is: television is following in the footsteps of film. Lots of people complain about the lack of originality in film, but many popular films are based on novels, comics, cartoon or a previous film of the same name.
The Walking Dead is an extension of those complaints, but on the small screen.
If more people can come up with extraordinary creative ideas like The Walking Dead comic, I bet you'd see them on television or film. But, creativity is not as easy to get across as audiences might think.
The Walking Dead never happens if it isn't a popular comic book first. And that's probably why it took so long for a network to approve of the concept."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: The Walking Dead
I think what helps is that this series is based on an already popular comic book.
