    Re: The Walking Dead

If anything i see the CDC being somewhere they squat until things go to hell again.

Anyway i'm hoping this leads to the introduction early on next season a popular character from the comics

      Re: The Walking Dead

I think they'll be leaving the CDC by the end of the episode and I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing her any time soon. Probably not until the begining of season 3.

          Re: The Walking Dead

Big news today for The Walking Dead.

First, the fifth episode shattered even more expectations by posting the series's largest audience yet.

5.56 million people tuned in with a 2.8 adults.

          28-Nov The Walking Dead 2.8 5.6
          21-Nov The Walking Dead 2.4 4.8
          14-Nov The Walking Dead 2.5 5.074
          7-Nov The Walking Dead 2.5 4.707
          31-Oct The Walking Dead 2.7 5.345

          Now, surprising news.

Despite the record highs, there has been growing concern with the lack of critical enthusiasm as the first season concludes next week.

In response, showrunner Frank Darabont has fired the entire writing staff. Yea, fired.

This doesn't really affect much, however, as the first season had the following writing credits: 2 from Darabont, 1 from the comic creator, 2 from non-staffed writers and 1 from a staff writer. Darabont has also been responsible for polishing each of the four episodes he did not write.

His plan is to enlist freelance writers instead of hiring a staff for the second season. In case anyone is wondering, no, this does not happen in America. There could be potential issues with the Writer's Guild, but that likely won't surface until Darabont puts people to work.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

            ......

I don't even know what to say. To stick with such a high number is incredible in itself, but to actually GAIN viewership on your 5th episode? If the finale is good, they could turn season two into a real big event next year.

Wow at those numbers! As far as the firings... that makes sense if he wasn't even using any of the writers he had on staff

I didn't realize there was a "lack of critical enthusiasm" though... seemed like all the reviews I read loved the series. Either way, his formula has worked so far, so it doesn't look like there's anything to worry about.

The lack of enthusiasm was taken from the article that mentioned the firings. I'm not sure exactly what they're talking about, but I put it down anyway.

I'm not sure how there is a lack of anything when your series is hitting some all-time cable numbers on a network that already had two of the best shows on television.

I think they just added that as a note to the article. All the "official" spots i've seen have been positive.

Yah... I just really doubt that "critical enthusiasm" is why this staff was fired... I'd say the fact that they were never used would be a little more accurate, lol.

                    What site was that from?

                      Re: The Walking Dead

I don't even remember the name. I just saw the article, tried to double check some of the facts and then posted about it.

I was hoping that someone might have seen a producer or critic that was not satisfied with the show's direction to back up the line. Otherwise, I figured it would be good conversation starter.

i prefer the slow walking death version than the fast ones...
I also prefer slow moving zombies. I can't stand the rage zombies like in 28 Days or Dawn of the Dead remake. Nothing wrong with the way they are depicted in those films as I enjoyed both, but when I think of a zombie, it's a slow moving corpse hungry for BRAINS.............................lol! I just find the slower zombies more of a threat in some ways as they can be very unpredictable when it comes to mobility plus they attack in groups/gangs vs. the rage zombies which are almost just running around like maniacs drugged up on speed.

That would be excellent if they can pull that off. I just hope that they do not lose focus at all since some shows tend to explode due to popularity and get lost once a network starts to stick their fingers into "Production" ***cough*** FOX ***cough***. I have never watched any shows on AMC, so I'm not sure how they are with their TV shows. Both Mad Men and Breaking Bad are supposed to be very good and haven't lost a step from what I've read.....so that is a good thing.

I don't consider 28 Days as zombies. They weren't dead or reanimated. Just living humans infected with 'Rage'. So they're track-like, adrenaline fused speed is excusable. but I agree with you on the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake. Rigor mortis makes that type of movement impossible.. I'm also with you in terms of your preference for the slow-moving zombies.
